On the road again
We were outside last night having a family cookout and hoping to see the ionization cloud that was supposedly visible along the east coast. I had read it was moved fro Friday. We were unsuccessful in seeing that but a couple of hours later we began to notice a string of lights moving across they sky. They were evenly spaced and went on for several minutes. Below is a story from NBC Los Angeles

"They’re part of SpaceX’s Starlink constellation of more than 1,500 satellites orbiting Earth about 340 miles up. They’ve been shuttled into space by SpaceX rockets over that past two years, but become visible when light conditions are just right.

Use the FindStarlink tracker to find the best upcoming viewing times.
The satellites are sometimes visible in the first few minutes after sundown and before sunrise when the sun is below the horizon, but the satellites are high enough to reflect direct sunlight.

Did you miss them earlier this week? Use the FindStarlink tracker to find the best upcoming viewing times.

SpaceX has launched more than 1,500 Starlink satellites into orbit, including 120 this month. Another 60 are being launched on May 9 and another 60 after that are expected to be launched before the end of the month."

Did anybody else happen to see them? It was awesome. The story went on to say they are part of an internet network. Who knows? They were reminiscent of the space station flyovers but many many more of them. Had we not known what it was, I might have thought it was part of the Chinese space junk that came back to earth. Still pretty neat to see.
