Let's talk after the season... You might just find out Missouri is a better baseball team than you're giving credit...
They swept UGA on the road last week... You don't do that in the SEC...
We have good pitching and good defense, our hitting hasn't come along at this point...
I'm far from heart broken. One loss by one run followed by a 10 inning loss by one run on the road doesn't worry me all that much.
you guys who think nothing is wrong are hilarious, we have a losing record vs teams worth a dang. we cant hit...we cannot hit....we. cant. hit. and that is costing us games.
not to mention, all this 'hitting' we've sacrificed was apparently due to our focus on pitching and defense and we suck at one of those too.
I have to agree, thus team is not good. I at least thought that if they could get to Widener with at least a one run lead, well that isn't working either. Only bright spot is Crowe & Wynkoop are giving 100%. But it is early, they are young.
lets talk now.....this is our second series loss to a lesser baseball program. we have a glaring weakness and it isnt due to being young. if that was the case, i could accept it. but we have experienced players all over the place and we still cant hit and now we're mediocre on defense. that is unacceptable for south carolina baseball. i'll go ahead and say it, if we dont make it past a regional, we need to either fire holbrook or go after the best hitting coach in the country.
We are not that bad, Just very average. I still say we finish 15-15 in the SEC and maybe host a regional. Maybe.... Just not what we are used to from our baseball team.
The best teams do this. We are not going to be a very good team at times and we are going to play lights out at times. I just want to see us position ourselves for at least a regional and hopefully a super regional. The rest of this is just the silly season of going through the motion. I want us to get "hot" when it counts.....play for position for now. We don't have to win them all for that.
I'm not ready to say this team is going be average by the end of year. There is absolutely no excuse for this team to be average with everything the program has going for it. The point of success is to capitalize on it to have continued sustained success. If we are squandering that than, it's time for major changes. This team is broken right now and it needs to be fixed pronto. We need a closer that can close and some batters that can hit sliders and breaking balls once in a while. We get that and we will be back in business.
UF is 3-3. I guess they're not very good either. LSU is 4-2, which I think we will be after today. Guess they're not very good either. We win today and we are a game back. This team will be just fine. 18-12 in the conference. Jmo

Very pleased with the weekend starting pitchers. They always give us a chance to win. Still need to improve with hitting and relief pitching.

What scares me is, this team seems to have no confidence. I could see them going on a 6 or 7 game skid. Winning at Coastal isn't a cake walk then comes the hated dawgs. Let's hope they turn this around TODAY. Or else we are in for a l-o-n-g season.

Understatement of the year right there. That one horrible inning we just had, they sent NINE batters to the plate before we got the FIRST out on them.
