Fact or Fiction: Spencer Rattler is...

I think on paper pre-season and overall body of work in his career, yes it's a fact, don't see how anyone could argue otherwise. How it plays out, we will see. Totally excited to see what a QB of his stature can do here.

Hard to disagree but it’s just as much of an indictment of the SEC East than anything else.

Brock Vandagriff? He hasn't played much yet, but I expect him to win the starting job this spring at Georgia and with the talent around him could give Rattler a run for best qb awards.

Our overall fan sanity still worries me. Does anyone that claims he will be the second best QB in the SEC next year think or consider the following relevant (or not):

-Does the offensive system you play within matter when it comes to putting up huge stats? There is much more to QBing than that...but everyone on here just mentions his stats so I frame the question accordingly.
-Do the defenses you see as a QB EVERY week in conference matter?
-Is it likely that a QB with a "mediocre (?)" OL and different "talents" in the receiving corp likely to make it through a season uninjured (considering that he may have to pull the ball down more and scramble than he has in the past)?
-Will his ball security improve now that he isn't coached by Lincoln Riley and is coached by.......who is our QB coach again?

I ask all these questions 8 months out from the first time we will get actual answers.

Rattler is going to be the most talented QB in the east next year. Does that make him the best? That's to be determined - the play-calling, offensive line play, wide receiver play, and run game will all play into it. If we can't run the ball and the receivers can't get open, it won't matter how good Rattler is.

-Yeah, if we ran the veer he wouldnt put up the numbers like he would in a zone read.
- Of course but the traditional SEC defenses havent been what they used to be. The Big 12 has 2 teams and the SEC 2 teams ranked in the Top 10 in total defense
- Its likely a better QB that can make quicker decisions will help the OL and the jury will be out on receivers until Rattler comes in and finds his chemistry with who we have on the depth chart
- Players like Rattler who have natural ability can only be taught mechanics so much. Unless he has a completely unorthodox throwing motion which we know he does not, the QB coach isnt make or break, its him maturing and getting better reads from the designed plays.

That sounds more like you think Vandergriff will helm the best passing attack, not that he's really the best QB.

I didn't know Mike Farrell is a homer, what would we do without you?

Vandergriff is extremely talented, but I would have said that about Clemson's Uiagalelei until he fell flat on his face. Basically he is a wild card, he could be far better than Rattler or fall like Uiagalelei.
