We weren't in the SEC at the time and Bryant was alive when that hire was made.

Anyway, there is a long honorable mention list. Gerry Dinardo at LSU, Zook at Florida, Crowe at Arkansas, Goff at UGA, etc. It's hard to get hires right. That's why the successor to Spurrier hire induces nightmares.
