--Took off his cast this morning and looked like an actual foot today instead of a "mallet" after the Alabama game. Lawson will start rehabbing Monday and is in a boot now. Was in a scooter before that and now starts the process of seeing if he could come back this season. First is getting swelling down and then getting range of motion where it needs to be. Then, it's about pain tolerance. Lawson's out Tuesday and still TBD for the rest of the year.
--Martin running more zone and said they practice it a lot but just don't use it. They practice it so they can run offense against it. The team needs to be more aggressive in the zone, which didn't happen in the second half. Said with freshmen it's about teaching them playing zone defense isn't a time to rest. Team needs to be better in transition defense as well and set up in the half court better.
--Martin reflecting on where this team was just seven days ago talking about the NCAA Tournament and controlling its own destiny. Said late February is not the time to have a losing streak. Streaks early in the year can be overcome but it's hard to do in February when there are so few games left.
Team understood how big that Alabama game was and outside of Hassani Gravett and Keyshawn Bryant there wasn't much spirit at Missouri with the hangover of the game Tuesday. Said they missed Lawson's points and playmaking, they missed the spirit in the practice and games.
--Mentions the team was delayed heading out to Missouri and didn't get in to Columbia until about 9 p.m. that night. Said with so few bodies, he planned practice in Columbia then decided to have a 40 minute practice when they arrived. Because of the delay they couldn't do much.
Now that they have to go to College Station, they had to have a lighter practice Sunday and have to practice here Monday with a 40-minute practice a Texas A&M tonight.
--On Chris Silva and what he's meant to the program, Martin said he's fought hard to hold the team together the last two years after the Final Four year. He hates that in Silva's senior year they've had five players redshirting and the coaches have not been able to give enough to maximize what they thought this team could be at the beginning of the year.
--If Martin starts to dwell on emotions then they let those outweigh the remaining two games and the SEC Tournament. Doesn't talk too much about senior day or any of that finality. That brings out a negative emotion to "compete for a team." He tries to stay away from those talks. When the UGA game ends Saturday, those conversations can take place.
--Asked about momentum, said the team built up some really good momentum heading into that Alabama game and Lawson's injury kind of "threw a wrench" into that. Said they need to be better with enthusiasm over the last two games. That was something that was lacking against Missouri.
