Not really but just basically said the UT job would be better. Finebaum said Freeze was interviewed by him several years ago and Freeze told him he and his wife were driving by Neyland many years ago and Freeze told his wife wouldn't it be wonderful if he could ever be the coach for the Vols. Basically that was what was said in so many words.
Well on the flip side there appears to be in no way was Carolina planning on offering him the job.
It looks that way but are we missing out big time? I just don't see Napier or Beamer getting the job done.
Honestly, it’s all a crap shoot. I think history would show there are very few sure fire hires.
I told ya'll that from day 1. Obviously doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
I do not care if he is interested in the SC job or not. I just do not see where they think the Tennessee job is so much better. I know UT has a tradition of winning and we do not. A winning history is a source of pride but not much else. We can pay a coach as much as UT can. We have as good or better facilities. Tennessee's stadium is old and showing its age. In the past dozen seasons Tennessee's record is 75-75, South Carolina's record is 92-63.

While Freeze certainly seems like a winner, I don't know if the NCAA scrutiny would be worth it.
They may revive the "death penalty" for any school who would hire him knowing of his past.
Sitting here pondering why Finebaum thinks the Tennessee job is so much better. Then it came to me. Finebaum is a Tennessee grad.
He's a better fit for UT. They arent afraid of some baggage up there if they think the coach will win.
Someone will roll those dice, take the risk and reap the rewards. Too bad it won’t be us.
I’m still wondering why there are so many people who believe he is a serious candidate after his stint at Ole Miss and the fact SC now employs the former president of West Point. Not a stab at the OP at all, but Freeze was probably never a serious option.
If Baylor, Michigan State, and Penn State avoided it then no one will ever get it again. Penn State should've been shutdown for 3 years. Cheating is the only way. If you ain't cheating you ain't winning. LoL

How do you know he is no longer a fan of his alma mater? Why wouldnt he be? I know on his show he tries to not display any bias, but that is obviously just for his show.
I never said it wasn't important. I just said UT is more willing than USC to overlook some baggage if they think the guy can win. Do you disagree with that?
I believe Tennessee demands a successful football program. South Carolina hopes for a successful football program.
