GA St. QB not playing because of Covid-related heart condition

But wait.....reading this forum you would think COVID has no serious implications for college kids, right?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer in any of the reporting that clearly states that the heart condition he has was only caused by Covid. It's all worded very ambiguously. We know:

1) He has covid
2) His heart was tested due to covid protocols (because an inflamed heart is sometimes a covid symptom)
3) Through the testing protocols they found an unnamed heart condition that will cause him not to play this year.

But we don't know if the testing just found a non-covid related condition, if an unrelated condition was worse when paired with covid inflammation, if it's a heart condition that is 100% related to covid, etc. We definitely need more info.

But to your point, yes, people are grasping at straws to show that covid is no big deal.

With a heart condition that should be enough for anyone to hang'em up.
True. How many kids have we seen through the years - often high school aged kids - to drop during or after a practice and the cause end up being a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

Agree with you on that. I don't think this probably has anything to do with C-19 he has probably carried this for years and never knew it. Glad they caught it before a bad thing happened.

A previously undiagnosed heart condition.

An article in The Athletic was more specific than previous articles. They have it in there that it is Covid-caused myocarditis - the inflammation of the heart. He's sitting out as a precautionary measure as strenuous exercise while having the condition can lead to many issues, including death.

It is unconfirmed as of now, but the former Florida State basketball player that died of a heart attack during a workout at 27, had Covid earlier. Again, unconfirmed that the Covid had anything to do with his heart, but players that have this should probably sit out and make sure their heart is good before pushing it.
