The Mariners selected Neidert with the #60 pick. The signing bonus for that pick is almost 1.03M. Sure bet he signs and doesn't come to school.

Those posters who are counting on this recruiting class to bail us out for next year better not hold their breath.
Neidert was the only Carolina signee selected thus far,so your whining's a little premature. We've lost commits to the draft annually since the dawn of baseball, so don't act like this is some kind of catastrophe.

We've already lost our top pitching prospect in this class to tommy john surgery. Also I suggest if you don't like my "whining" don't read my posts.

Yet you continue to read my posts when you obviously don't like my responses. Logan Allen is our top pitching prospect in this class and he remains healthy and comitted to the Gamecocks.

This is an every year thing that all programs go through. I noticed that Ray seemed to court guys that would be great college players but not high draft picks coming out of high school. We lost some but we held our own when all way said and done. I think that is most coaches strategy. Why recruit a guy that's never coming and pass on the best that will be going to college. Sound thinking....

If they don't get drafted high it's not a good class, if they do then you recruited too well. That is what every college baseball coach in the country faces. Bottom line is " win anyway"!

Ray was lucky to not lose Smoak and Havens in the same class to the draft. I think it came down to the last day and whether they went to class or not.

But the key is to find guys that have pro potential but need to be developed some. Finding guys that are mid to late drafts that want to come to school is key, that's where they need to target.

I would be shocked to believe Ray had any purposeful recruiting tactics that included "not recruiting a guy who may go high in the draft". Now, I could understand not heavily investing excessive time and effort into a player leaning towards the MLB or another team, and maybe that is what you are referring to, but to pass on someone completely because he says he likes LSU the best, or is going to the majors if called upon would be poor recruiting in my opinion. If you like him, you offer him, and see where things go from there.

I don't care if I read your posts or not. You're the one complaining about mine.

Of course a "congratulations young man!!" would be out of the question. Let's turn it into "the sky continues to rain down around us" thread. SMDH. I, for one, will say good for you Nick, good for you!!
good for him, bad for us.

Logan Allen has signed with the Red Sox.

He was never coming to school unless he suffered some sort of serious injury - and even then- it was doubtful.

There are only a few teams in the country that can get an extremely high profile recruit into school. Vandy seems to do it a lot. Florida does it a lot.

100% correct.

Our program is not in a reloading position right now. We can be slightly better next year - or we could easily be the same or worse.

It's going to be a 2-3 year process for this program to get back to being a serious regional host contender.

Yes he has now signed. Regardless, we'll be fine with the guys still coming to Carolina. The majority of the 2010 championship team were not high draft selections out of high school, but developed into pretty good college players.

If that's the case, it falls squarely on Holbrook. No reason whatsoever we should be in this position! No way Tanner should let him hang around if it's going to take that long. He dropped the ball big time.
