9:35 p.m. update: From what I'm told, it appears that Auburn isn't going to end up making making a substantial push for Ladereyen Craig because the sense is that South Carolina's in a good position and that it may be too late on that front anyways.
8 p.m. update: One of Auburn's significant targets at DB down the stretch has been Florida's Dontae Balfour, who could end up going to UNC.
Tied to that is the fact that Auburn today placed some calls regarding in-state DB Ladareyen Craig. No offer is out as of this writing, but it's a possibility we're at least tracking.
We'll update with anything further.
Original update: The NCAA's late signing period kicks off tomorrow - Wednesday - and there's expected to be a small amount of additional movement for Shane Beamer's program.
In Monday's Insider Report, we laid out the status of remaining targets, focusing primarily on the three that the Gamecock staff would continue swinging on leading up to Wednesday, those being four-star JUCO LB Bam Scott, plus Alabama defensive backs Ladereyen Craig and Juwon Gaston.
We framed the Gamecocks' positive positioning on Monday, noting that Scott has seemed to prefer playing in the SEC - with two of his finalists in Mississippi State and South Carolina residing within the conference. Today, we hear more positive returns on the Gamecocks' edge heading into tomorrow.
We anticipate that the in-state push from Auburn will ultimately be too much to overcome for Gaston, who's a product of Montomgery that Auburn has prioritized.
South Carolina does stand a good shot to pull Craig out of the Yellowhammer State, and the lengthy, speedy defensive back would represent a quality acquisition at a need position.
