Since the Cocks joined the SEC, I have the same feelings about Kentucky (We should win this game )! I remember the 2nd game in the history between these 2 programs. It was 1978, I was 8th Grade, and I was like W~O~W....we just tied an SEC program Kentucky 14-14. i was thrilled. Since joining SEC ones perspective changed dramatically. It was apparent that for Gamecocks to have that "wonderful" 7 Game season, We had to beat Vandy and Kentucky, and MISS St (our first permanent West opponent).
I look back at this history of this series and realize, yes...I will take the overall series of going to the Gamecocks at 18-13-1 (tie). Naysaying bitchy Gamecock fans will decry..."BASCock, you accept mediocrity !) If you know me, you would know Im the last SOB that accepts mediocrity ! Im an old LEFT TACKLE that S~T~I~L~L has not lost an ounce of my intensity , much less the will to accept Mediocrity!
Why do I accept the series results then? Because I accept the fact that the "Great Pretender" Will Muschamp was ruinous for this program, and 6 of those losses are on his miserable shoulders !
I believe in Coach Beamer and his opportunity to return respectability to our damaged program, and it starts tonight !
