1.5️⃣7️⃣ Countdown to Kickoff: 57 days!
Our countdown to South Carolina's 2019 season opener against North Carolina in Charlotte is now down to just 57 days. Today’s athlete is redshirt junior defensive lineman Jazuun Outlaw.
Outlaw played for South Carolina powerhouse Dillon in high school and chose to attend South Carolina, but not as an athlete. After a year in school, Outlaw walked on to the team in August of 2017.
A mechanical engineering major, Outlaw will provide depth at the defensive end position this fall.

2. Three things to know about Week 2 opponent Charleston Southern
After opening its 2019 football season against North Carolina in Bank of America Stadium, South Carolina will face Charleston Southern in its home opener in Week 2. Today we continue our look at South Carolina's 2019 opponents.
Here are three things to know about the Buccaneers.
• There's a change at the top - Former Notre Dame running backs coach and all-time leading rusher Autry Denson takes over the Charleston Southern football program as the Gamecocks face the second straight team with a new coach to start the 2019 campaign. Denson plans to completely shake up the offensive side of the ball. After throwing just 175 passes, compared with 417 rushing attempts, last season, Denson plans to implement his new "Air Raid with attitude" offense to replace the option-based scheme.
• There will be a new QB too - Last year's starting quarterback London Johnson transferred to play his senior season elsewhere leaving the Bucs with a new quarterback to run their new offense. Jack Chambers and Christian Reid are both in the running. Chambers is considered the early favorite as the starter, but each quarterback threw two touchdowns in the spring game, and they figure to battle it out this fall. Not only is it a new offense, but a polar opposite philosophy, which could mean for some growing pains when CSU faces Carolina in Week 2.
• There are two former Gamecocks on the team - Former South Carolina DB Darin Smalls is now a senior for the Bucs. Smalls missed the entire 2017 season with an injury and returned to play in nine games last year, collecting 13 tackles. Now fully healthy, Smalls should be in line to start in his final season. Former South Carolina walk-on QB Darius Douglas, a standout at Berkeley High, also recently announces his plans to transfer to CSU and should be immediately eligible this season.

4. Birthdays!
• Stacy Robinson – A receiver from Sumter, Robinson signed with South Carolina over Wake Forest and sat out the 1988 season while meeting academic requirements. Robinson was moved to cornerback in 1989 and played in all 11 games. He moved back to wide receiver in the spring of 1991 but suffered a broken leg and did not play any that season. He made a couple of big plays in 1992, the first was recovering Tennessee's on-side kick to preserve Carolina's 24-23 win over the Vols. He also made a big catch in the second quarter against Clemson, picking up 14 yards and then stepping out of bounds with 16 seconds left in the half to set up a field goal in the 24-13 Gamecock win.
