1. Bobo on Doty and injuries Sunday
South Carolina interim football coach Mike Bobo spoke to the media Sunday night via teleconference to give the latest on his team as they head into the final game of the season against Kentucky.
Doty gets his second start
One week after making his first career start, freshman quarterback Luke Doty will make his second career start on Saturday at Kentucky.
“I thought he did a lot of good things. I thought he kept his composure throughout the game. He was into it. He was locked in. He understood what we were talking about and trying to do each series on the sideline. He was efficient throwing the ball.”
Doty finished his day completing 81.8 percent of his passes (18-for-22) for 190 yards, an average of 8.6 yards per attempt, with a TD and a pick.
Injuries continue to pile up
Wide receiver Shi Smith, who missed the Georgia game while in concussion protocol, is still considered questionable for Saturday.
Starting middle linebacker Ernest Jones is listed as doubtful after injuring his ankle against Georga Saturday night. Jones had an MRI today, but the results are not in yet.
Freshman BUCK Jordan Burch is considered questionable while senior defensive lineman Keir Thomas is doubtful Bobo said.
Former Gamecocks make big plays in the NFL
Javon Kinlaw hit career milestone Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Not to be outdone, his 49ers teammate Deebo Samuel returned to action Saturday after missing three weeks due to injury and was the difference-maker in the 23-20 win.
Samuel grabbed a career-high 11 receptions for 133 yards.

3. 📅 On This Date
Nov. 30, 1990 - The Gamecocks stunned No. 4 North Carolina in Charlotte's Tournament of Champions 76-74 thanks to a layup by Michael Glover with seven seconds left. The winning basket was set up when UNC's Hubert Davis missed a shot and the Gamecocks' Chris Leso grabbed the rebound and dished off an outlet pass to start the break for the winning score. USC could credit a lot of the win to a smothering defense that forced 28 turnovers, including 17 steals. The Tar Heels had held what appeared to be a commanding 44-30 lead early in the second half, but the Gamecocks forced nine turnovers in a five and a half minute span where USC scored ten unanswered points. Late in the game, another Glover basket had cut UNC's lead to 70-68. A basket by UNC's George Lynch made it 72-68 but some heroics from Barry Manning helped the Gamecocks. Joe Rhett made a free throw to make the score 72-69, but he missed the second one. Manning grabbed the rebound and hit a three-pointer with 47 seconds left to tie the game. Rhett and Manning were the leading scorers with 15 each, while JoJo English added 13 and Glover ten. The win came in the first USC-UNC matchup since 1972.
