Ok here is the ultimate litmus test. If this kid rejects Duke and North Carolina and ends up following Frank to Umass, we’re going to know we missed out on this kid beyond a shadow of a doubt.
It's obviously not just NIL. Even the one and done kids want to get that college experience out of their one year. If we have a snowball's chance in hell, it will be because GG is intrigued by the idea of being that hometown hero. Problem is we don't even have a team right now.I was told it's 100% a one year deal w him. So basically from what I've been told that whoever puts together the best NIL package will get him. I think it's worth every dollar to get him. The new coach could really use some positive kickstart to his program.
Maybe he loves cold frigid weatherHe isn’t going to UMASS….cmon
Not true, he is an average coach. He just can't evaluate talent.Frank Martin is a loser.
There are other factors in play here. I was told by a HS player yesterday that G-League Ignite is in serious consideration by GG and his family. Also, we need to let it go about Frank Martin, the transfers and the loss of momentum with GG. Every player on LSU team either declared for the draft or is in the transfer portal. The only person on their roster right now is Trae Hannibal. So, players leaving and developing a roster in the summer is just part of the process for every program.I was told it's 100% a one year deal w him. Still a loser. Not true, he is an average coach. He just can't evaluate talent.
I think he can evaluate talent and was, in fact, a very good developer of talent. His issue was that he wasn't good at recruiting blue chip players. Not true, he is an average coach. He just can't evaluate talent.
His career record is above .500 so by definition he isn't a loser. I guess if you look only at SEC games he would be a loser.Still a loser.
I look at Tournament (of which there are more than 64 teams in the big dance) appearances. He is a loser based on that!!His career record is above .500 so by definition he isn't a loser. I guess if you look only at SEC games he would be a loser.
Any school. Fixed it for youOne time out of ten to the NCAA Tournament is unacceptable, formost Carolinafans.
Yes, it should be.Any school. Fixed it for you
Only thing wrong with that is that I didn't write it first.😉😀I'd love to have him, and I know Coach Paris would as well, but Frank had to go, even if it means every player on the team transferred.
It was more the timing for me. Was hoping beyond hope that he could convince GG to stay home. Now we don't even have a team... 😔Yes, it should be.
I still am amazed that any Carolina fan would feel keeping Martin was an acceptable option. To those Carolina fans I would ask: "Don't you like to win?".
Not sure we had a team before, definitely not a winning team.It was more the timing for me. Was hoping beyond hope that he could convince GG to stay home. Now we don't even have a team... 😔
No doubt figuratively, except now we literally don't have a team. Not sure we had a team before, definitely not a winning team.
That's the norm at schools with coaching changes, it seems. No doubt figuratively, except now we literally don't have a team.
ever since this damned TRANSFER PORTAL opened its "Pandoras box" of candy!!That's the norm at schools with coaching changes, it seems.
Ahh, it seems so simple and yet..........A moral of the story is: Get your coaching hire right so that you don't have to go through this sh_t.
LSU hired the right guy. He just got caught doing what 90% of the winning coaches do, cheat. Yet here they are having to go through the process again.A moral of the story is: Get your coaching hire right so that you don't have to go through this sh_t.
What about the previous 10 years? And the previous 10 years to that? One time out of ten to the NCAA Tournament is unacceptable, for most Carolina fans.
That really sounds reasonable - NOT! So you think that destroying the entire program for years to come to get rid of a winning coach who had a very promising recruiting class coming in and some pretty good players returning by replacing him with an unknown coach with a questionable record and having to pay a $3MM buyout was a smart move???? I swear some people don't act like they have the sense God gave a gnat.I'd love to have him, and I know Coach Paris would as well, but Frank had to go, even if it means every player on the team transferred.
Frank was mediocre at best, and was not going to improve. One NCAA in ten years and his fluke 10 day run. Yes, it is best to amputate a toe with gangrene and suffer awhile with that than to let it keep going and lose a foot, then a leg, etc. That really sounds reasonable - NOT! Before Frank, how many times had we been to the NCAA in the previous 10 years? How about the 10years before that? Frank was capable has he had done it. There were a host of circumstances that prevented it. He had what looked to be a very promising recruiting class coming in. He also had a base of players from a winning team returning. All that is gone now. And for what? A nobody coach who will have no players and we get to pay $3MM for the privilege. You're disappointed in not getting to the final four but once in 10 years? I guess we can expect you to be suicidal over the next 10 years. We won't even be back to where we were in the next 5 years.Frank was mediocre at best, and was not going to improve. Sorry, but I pine to go to the NCAA's more than once a decade, and if coach Paris is as bad as Frank, he can be let go, too.
So because other coaches weren't successful, we should've just kept Frank? Just because Darrin Horn sucked, that is no reason to cling to a mediocre Frank Martin. And that Final Four run was great, even though it was a fluke. But the rest of Frank's tenure was the norm. Before Frank, how many times had we been to the NCAA in the previous 10 years? What promising recruiting. Boy, some Frank apologists fell for the okey-doke on this GG thing. The reality was that it wasn’t a given that GG would reclassify to help next year even if he decided to pick USC. So, to me that was a strategy for Martin to squeeze two more years out of based on a hope. Otherwise, this year’s recruiting class has two Under-the-Radar prospects in it. Any coach can recruit to that level. That really sounds reasonable - NOT! Frank Martin is a loser.
Maybe but so far the only “recruit” Paris has “brought in” was getting one of those under the radar recruits that signed with Frank to remain. What promising recruiting.
