1. 8️⃣7️⃣ Countdown to kickoff: 87 days!
Our countdown to South Carolina's 2019 season opener against North Carolina in Charlotte is now down to just 87 days and today we're featuring rising senior tight end Kiel Pollard.
Pollard has appeared in 38 games over the past three seasons with 17 receptions for 203 yards and two touchdowns, but should see his production increase this season due to the graduation of Jacob August and K.C. Crosby.
Despite those losses, head coach Will Muschamp said during this spring's Spurs Up Tour that he doesn't see any dropoff from the tight end position this year.
"I think Kiel is really a guy that's a mismatch in the passing game and he's a guy that can block well enough in the C-area to be fine," Muschamp said.

2. Five questions with @Stewwwwieeeee
Gamecock Central is talking with some Twitter followers to discuss their Gamecock fanhood. Speaking with Seth Forrester (@GamecockArt) is Stew Kennemore (@Stewwwwieeeee), a 2016 graduate from USC and die-hard Gamecock fan.
- What is your favorite Gamecock sporting event you’ve been in attendance for?
@Stewwwwieeeee: My personal favorite Gamecock event that I have attended would have to be the 2012 beatdown of UGA in Williams-Brice.
- Who is your all-time favorite Gamecock athlete and why?
@Stewwwwieeeee: My all-time favorite Gamecock athlete is Devan Downey, because as someone who isn’t blessed with height, Devan showed me that the desire to win was substantially more important than any other measurable.
- What drew you to becoming a Carolina fan?
@Stewwwwieeeee: Growing up I became best friends with a kid named Brent Stockstill (currently the starting QB for Middle Tennessee State). When we were kids, his dad became the WR coach for Carolina in 2003. From that point on, I fell in love with the Gamecock culture and atmosphere.
- Who is one Gamecock athlete (any sport) from the past that you’d like to see suit up for one more game?
@Stewwwwieeeee: I’d LOVE to see Connor Shaw lace ‘em up one more time. Preferably this coming (2019) season against either Alabama or the school from the Upstate. He was not only a gamer but also he was a true winner. He brought his 'A' game every time he stepped on the field.
- What single word would you use to describe Will Muschamp?
@Stewwwwieeeee: The one word I would use to describe Coach Muschamp would be "determined."
– Seth Forrester
