No - the slide was mistakenly printed as a mirror image.

Back then, the Braves' uniforms had the players' number on the front of the jerseys as well. See how "44" is "reversed?".

After I wrote the above, I read the AJC's caption: "Aaron's 1957 baseball card shows him batting left-handed because the image was accidentally reversed."
 
thanks was just flippin thru the slides & since henry was initially a cross handed batter guessed he pull the switch on the Kodak.

his old teammate lew burdette once switched his gloves to his pitchin hand:)

I read years ago where Aaron had started out as a cross-handed batter (I was thinking along those lines after I read your post and before I saw the photo).

I can still remember night fishing on a creek bed listening to
Milo and Ernie - " there's a drive " and Henry Aaron making us Georgia boys hoot and holler for the hammer.
