Happy Thanksgiving from Iowa

Happy Thanksgiving and go Hawkeyes! My work career often had me driving two or three hours home late on autumn Saturday nights. Many of those nights I listened to the Hawkeyes football replay on WHO AM-1040 from Des Moines. The Frank Lauterber and Bob Commings years. Then, came Hayden Fry. Been a Hawkeyes fan ever since. Driving home from the College World Series in 2012 I stopped by Nile Kinnick Stadium and lucked into a family getting a tour. I tagged along. The fake brick facade inside the stadium was a surprise. I noticed the hospital tower across the street and remembered it years later when the fans started turning and waving after the first quarter. Going to a game there is on my bucket list. As Jim Zabel would say, I love it! I love it! I love it.

Back at ya bro!
As I get old (much too quickly), I reminisce a lot. I recall with warm and wonderful memories about Thanksgiving at the home where I grew up. My parents died several years ago and our extended family does not gather as before. I have sons and step children, all of whom have their own children, and we do gather on Thanksgiving. However, it is not quite the same. Regardless, our family is blessed and wish all who love My Carolina as I do the best on this wonderful day.
