Has anyone pulled their kids out of public school

There are a lot of ideas taught in public school as fact that are not fact, only theory. Some public schools are better than others, but as far as curriculum it would be wise to know what your children are being taught. I’d estimate well over 75% of parents do not know. Of course the majority of those don’t care either way.

Vast majority of people are uneducated about the education they’ve received. Pretty ironic and crazy. Or perhaps they don’t want to learn because the only alternatives require a significant sacrifice financially.

We loved the public elementary school, but middle school is a disaster. So now she is attending private school after dealing with 6th grade public. Public middle school is more about babysitting than educating.

Everybody I know for the last 35 years has bitched about middle school. This is in 6 cities and three different states. It ain’t the schools!

It’s the 13 year old monsters that have been injected with massive amounts of hormones and are in the presence of the opposite sex. They have discovered they are smarter than their doofus parents and have decided to torment them endlessly. They know there will be no consequences. Save your money and instead of private school..... beat them regularly and keep them locked in a closet

CRT hasn't reached Lex 5 yet, but if it did, we will pull our kids out.

But they won't officially teach CRT in schools. They'll "use it as a lens to form lesson plans" etc. But this way their defenders can still hide behind the idea that it's not being officially taught in the schools (Like the poster above you) while they still teach the idea of it.

At this point, if you have the ability, why wouldn't you:

+ Kids trapped in poor indoor environments for 8 hours of sitting
+ Recess is now looked at as a liability hazard
+ Terrible, over-processed food (just like hospitals)
+ No personal finance or investing
+ No information on the importance of health, nutrition and sleep
+ No risk analysis

However, there's plenty of revisionist history to learn.

That will serve you best moving forward into your new cubical.

Went the other way - private to public. Really happy with the decision thus far (5 years in). My wife has worked at several prominent private schools in our area for over a decade, and after "seeing how the sausage is made" so to speak we couldn't really justify the costs as the education wasn't anywhere close to $30,000 a year better. In fact, we've noticed they're about the same. Both have their issues. I did like the quaintness of the private school campuses - and the school community was really close (because when you invest $30k a year per kid you are "all in"). But we haven't missed it at all. And we take much better vacations now.

Really vague...things like what? Mask guidelines? They aren't teaching creationism?
Things that shouldn’t be taught to YOUR kids. It’s subjective to each individual. Thank god my children are grown and made it through sane and successful. I’m just curious what young people with kids are doing in today’s climate

So, pulling your kids out now means it has to be for the same reason?
Kids NEED to be taught successful personal finance, math, PE, and if there’s time left after those are MASTERED, then you could add basic building construction, electrical, plumbing, auto mechanics, hvac etc. other than those useful tools forget it. I believe if everyone pulled the kids out across the country we could do a hard reset and end this disaster called public education. Byeee to all the teachers unions and child abuse.

There are public vocational schools that kids can go to.

Good luck with that...there are approximately 60 million kids in public schools compared to 6 million in private schools. Talk about dumbing down America...

Pretty sure we hit the dumb bottom years ago so nothing to lose from here.

There are public vocational schools that teach that.

Neither Hilton Head Christian, Hilton Head Academy, Sea Pines Academy, Church of the Cross Episcopel, not John Paul II Catholic School teach all that stuff. English, Math, History, Science, PE the teach.

Unfortunately I was pulled out of public school in 1972 (3rd grade) when segregation started in SC. Ironically there where 4 private schools before segregation and like 70 after...do the math.

Again, what does that have to do with pulling your kids out today? Because your parents did it 50 years ago, the people today must be doing it for the exact same reasons?

Trash like English, Literature, History, Music, Advanced Mathmatics, Chemistry, Biology, etc....

Welcome to the dumbing down of America.
Teach All the mathematics you can. Some kids can excel others not so much. As far as music, history, literature, it’s available for everyone interested. Well some of it is. Less available every day as we go forward

I've been wondering why our church, which has lots of resources, has waited until now to start a school.
School choice should be a winning platform going forward. Parents spend tax dollars on their children’s best education options. Should be a winning strategy?

Music, history, literature, etc. is what schools should be teaching. All the other things you listed prior is what parents should be teaching.

Make sure they do it properly. Had to get one church out of trouble with the IRS because they did it improperly.
Appreciate the caveat. I believe our church will do it right down the line. We have a non-clergy professional administrator to handle all areas of risk and compliance.
