Head coach hires re-ranked... Vols' Josh Heupel is now # 1 and your Shane Beamer is # 2

Word floating down the street is that some of you vol fans want Lane Kiffin back...

Tennessee Fans Want Lane Kiffin Back In Knoxville And Some Seem To Think There’s A Chance It’ll Actually Happen

Rumor has it that Kiffin himself is just as interested...

CFB insider says Lane Kiffin would ‘crawl back to Knoxville’ for Tennessee job

Several other similar articles out there, but I'm sure you catch my drift!!

So tell me, if things begin to dwindle as far as how Heuple's doing, and if such occurs while Kiffin is still in Oxford, might he (Kiffin) get a second chance in Knoxville???

Just askin'!!

Who knows what happens in this crazy world. Coach Heupel took a gutted team that lost lots of talent through the portal and exceeded expectations big time. We were picked in many preseason magazines to finish 6th in the East just ahead of Vanderbilt.

Heupel will be able to add around 10 extra players to the ‘22 squad which will help our depth. The schedule is lighter too. The players love him, play hard for him, and I don’t see it going south anytime soon.

Its odd that some in Gamecock Nation are still not as happy with this hire as 90% of the unbiased third party folks in college football media and coverage.
Because these writers are just writing articles they don’t really care about.

If the #2 ranking ends up being BS, we are the ones who have to live with the losses. Not the third party writers.

I can't verify or dismiss the LK rumor back to UT, but I do know that when Miami was looking into replacing Manny Diaz, the main and primary focus was of course Mario Cristobal, LK's agent did make contact with Miami to express "slight interest" if there continued to be an opening.
I think there is little doubt LK can elevate a team in little time, but LK appears always to be looking for the next best thing.

I agree. It's very hard to imagine Kiffin staying anywhere long enough to build a "program."

I mean.. You can’t argue with the assessment. 6 wins DESPITE the WB issues we had is impressive. Just adding Rattler should be good for a couple more wins by himself. Add in the other pieces we have gotten and it could be a very good year 2!

I can argue it. Malzahn could be #2. Our six wins include: Eastern Illinois, ECU, Troy, Vandy and the two SEC teams in turmoil. I love the six wins - but it is kinda fool's gold...especially considering how badly we played in 3 of the 4 wins versus those teams we should beat blind-folded.
I hope year 2 is at least 6 wins. I would be happy with that (I think). We are about to go back to the old orange crush days....and if you've been around long enough you know how that typically turns out.

Of course you can. Any positive regarding Beamer, you and Watson jump right in to tell us and the world how wrong it is

Sorry, tater. Positive press like this is nothing but good. Our administration isn't making employment decisions off yahoo sports rankings.

Auburn was a team that we heard had a better roster than ours we only beat twice now in the modern era. Florida was just in the sec championship game. You can’t downplay us beating them when both teams were favored even with the things going on in their program. Nice try

I agree on Auburn, but not with Florida. That team tanked big time.

We’ll, if I may jump in & quote my mama, “children are starving in Africa, clean your plate!”.
Hey now, its all good!! If you and kitchen enjoy lookin' back on y'all's "private" lunches from 20 years ago, then hey, whatever floats y'all's boats is good with me!! =;-p

But now on a serious note, if kitchen just so happens to make a good GameDay type cheeseburger, then I just might hafta go raid his tailgating spot and check 'em out myself!!

They beat Florida St and caused them to not make it to a bowl. Idk about this one.

True, its a weird situation. Beating an acc team who couldn't qualify for a bowl with an acc schedule is not their best game, imo. I'd say the Bama game might be, even if it's a loss. They just tanked so hard as the season went on, they were a different team almost week to week.

Yeah, losing to a patsy is pretty embarrassing.

Adds to my point that the fsu victory was not a great one for UF.

Thanks.

Edit: And for when you try to recap past threads:

I'll agree they're not "automatic" wins. They are easy wins though, scheduled to pad the win column, because they're patsies.

I'll repost, you can substitute automatic for guarantee.

"Listen, if you're arguing that these games aren't 100% guarantees, then go right ahead. I don't think anyone is going to argue that."

You might settle for second but Chadwell would've been the greatest hire in CFB history, Carolina will never win with the loser mentality that says the second best hire is good enough.
