Herman Cain has died of COVID perWashington Post

You believed it & you were dead wrong. Full stop.
Now tell us where the MSM, who you're always griping about, reported this fake news. Bet you can't do that because I'm betting it came straight from facebook or some similar bs source. Prove me wrong.

A by your logic, I guess since trump has proved himself to be a notorious pathological lair & fraudster you have zero issues with any lie people want to post about him. After all lying & cheating would fit the scenario of his life.

The only thing I remember him for is Pizza and 999.i was pulling for him there in the debates he was in.Its hard to find the pizza nowadays.

Cain was a self made black millionaire during a time when that was extremely difficult.

As I've said- I agree. I respect Cain's business acumen. If I had ever had the chance to meet him, I'd want to meet him and listen to him talk business. No doubt.

I respect that about him.

I respect John Lewis for other reasons- that he was willing to put his life on the line on the streets- and then fight for what he believed in for decades as a public servant - much like I respect soldiers that put their lives on the line in battle.

I really liked Cain and am sorry to hear of his passing. I also greatly respect Lewis for what he did as a young man. Since then, as an older man and career politician? Not so much. All that blabbering at his funeral today was just pushing the romanticized Lewis of long ago. Just recently, rather than being willing to step across the aisle and shake Trumps hand and try to meet him halfway, he did nothing but grandstand and squawk like the old man he had become. He could not speak outside of a partisan context, as evident by the fact that he voted with his party 99 percent of the time in 2015. He had one of the most liberal and party-line voting records in Congress. He was not the voice of a noble American cause nor was he a pivotal part of a conscientious movement. He was a tired, shallow and predictable Democrat. I am sorry for his family for their loss but I lost any admiration I had for him after he turned 40.

So, in other words, you didn't respect what he did in the 60's either. You are just romaticizing about it yourself because that is the socially acceptable thing to do. I am not going to get into the reasons why Lewis did not shake Trump's hand because that is a larger issue that I am no longer willing to discuss. However, why would any reasonable Black man shake a President's hand who tells the suburbs, just today, that they don't have to be bothered by those poor folks anymore while striking down the Fair Housing Act. Not only should Black folks have a problem, but all people not of means should have a problem. John Lewis was the same man throughout his life. Some people just want us to let this Civil Rights stuff go just like they did in the 60's. Only difference between MLK and John Lewis is that he got to see 80 years old. Many people like to throw out MLK quotes, but I presume many would have a problem with King too if he was still around challenging us to be better.

Tough pill for some here to swallow: John Lewis did more for this country by 1970 then the guy whose hand he refused to shake ever will do.

This is an odd post. Trump cut political ads against republicans in 2018 that didn’t support him 1000% of the time and you are complaining about a congressman that voted with his party most of the time.

Hypocrisy

Ha. A democrat calling a conservative a hypocrite. Imagine that. That was the least of the batch of my dislikes. As I said, Lewis did some great things as a young man but he got sucked into the political machine as they all do and became just another partisan hack, not to mention a liberal loony. He continued to support a party that he knew was not looking out for the best interests of black people, yet he stayed because it continually lined his pockets. THAT is a hypocrite.

What part of "as a young man, he did some great things" dont you comprehend? Furthermore, as one who has said a hundred times here that I dont like Trump personally and wish he would get off of twitter because he comes across as such an arrogant jackass. However, I agree 100% in the legislation - if it is what I think it is, and admittedly, I have not read it. What is racist about me, who is about to buy a new house, not wanting "affordable housing" built in my neighborhood? Why should I spend the large amount I am spending on redoing this house so that its value rises greatly, only to have project housing built right beside me? Sorry. I dont want that. If you wish to call me a racist for my thoughts on that, be my guest. I dont care if my neighbors are purple, as long as they are good people and take care of their property but I dont want "affordable housing" built right around the corner from me. See, there is a reward for hard work and effort in this country, despite what the democrats would have you believe. One of the key points to AHA is - "The most important qualifier is income. For most housing programs, the general qualification requires that the household makes less than 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) of that area to qualify." That is nothing but pure socialism. I cannot afford to live in the same neighborhood as my sister and brother in law. Would I like to? Sure. I would LOVE to. Beautiful houses in one of the nicest areas in town. I dont make enough to purchase a 800K - million dollar plus house, and I most likely never will. That is reality. Perhaps my wife and I could qualify for the AHA for that neighborhood. We certainly fit that qualification. Am I ever going to try to do that? NO. It has nothing to do with racism because all anyone in that neighborhood cares about is green. It has everything to do with the fact that I cant afford it. So, no. If you cannot afford to live in and keep up with a house in the neighborhood we are getting ready to move into, you dont need to live there, nor do you deserve to live there and I dont want you there. You wont be able to afford to keep your house up and you will end up dragging the rest of the neighborhood down, including me. Thanks but no thanks.

Yes, I call Trumpers hypocrites all the time because it fits.

I was talking to an executive at my company this morning and he was watching the funeral of Lewis on tv and he reminded me Trump refused to walk over and pay his respects to the Lewis family. Even trump’s advisors were not happy about it.

Trump’s a 1 year old. Of course I am sure Lewis’ family had no interest in seeing a fool like trump.

You know, he was CEO of a pizza company.

it’s sad to hear of his passing though. It’s a terrible disease and I can only imagine a terrible way to go. He probably had a lot more years ahead of him.
He was a stage 4 cancer survivor and 74 years old.. He had other health issues also.. He was a Scrappy, good all around dude.

I comprehended your words. I just call BS on them. You couldn't just blast Lewis and be real about it. You had to give him a little bit of credit for the 60's because you can't knock him for that without looking like a, well, you know.

This is so fricken stupid..
Really?? What did Cain do to deserve the royal treatment.
He's a conservative Republican Black man. The shit that man has been through just for being a black Republican is sick.. The racial slurs, threats to his life, and the attempt to ruin his family would be enough to break most. Not him, he refused to bow to the racists

I hate that he didn't wear a mask in Tulsa.

Of course Trump didn't wear one and declared them optional so what was he to do?

Very sad.

Well, we don't know if he caught it there- but someone with his health problems not wearing a mask and sitting all up next to so many people as pictures showed that he did was irresponsible.

I hope some of those folks pictured next to him have had some sleepless nights since Cain was found having the virus and of course has now passed. The facts didn't care about their political view.

Sad indeed.

John Lewis and Herman Cain should both be admiired. Obama should be ashamed of himself(he won`t be) for turning his eulogy for Lewis into a partisan political speech - should be no place for that at the funeral. Of course, the MSM will never criticize Obama for anything. If Trump did something like that he would be skewered for using a man`s funeral as a "campaign op." Disgusting but I`m sure the Democrats loved it even though it was out of place.

Disagree.

Lewis would have loved Obama's speech. That's who Lewis was too- and Lewis' family was very pleased with the speech. I didn't vote for Obama but I heard the speech and thought it was fine.

Of course some conservatives didn't like it. Heck, many of them accused the man of being an illegal president and not even a citizen. Hypocrites.

Trump turned his Boy Scout speech into a political speech- and wasn't invited back. The national leader had to apologize. So spare us your fake angst.

Trump won't even attend most funerals. Even Republicans don't want him there.

Sadly like many republicans Cain opposed wearing a mask and there are pictures of him at the Tulsa rally not wearing one and not social distancing. What's really troubling is that a stage four cancer survivor would do that.

Latest studies confirm that a mask protects both the wearer as well as others which many of us already knew.

Whatever dude. I am entitled to my opinion and whats more, I am right. The democrats have done almost as much damage this country over the last 25 years as anything and Lewis never left their plantation. Oh, and I dont give a flying crap what I look like to you or anyone else. I have proven without a shadow of a doubt by my choices in life where I stand on the race issue.
Oh yea, speaking of the Lewis funeral - for the last 4 months, if average Joe's family member dies, they dont get to have a funeral due to Covid. But when a politician dies, other politicians are allowed to grandstand on their grave and suddenly, its ok to gather people in close quarters and not follow the rules that average Joe is forced to follow. Typical political hypocrisy. Just thought I would point that out too....

SMH...I guess making fun of everyone not agreeing with him is a brave act. But Trump has no soul or heart so he wouldn't be ashamed of anything he does.

Question...if you 're not a Trump supporter does that automatically make you left wing Democrat? Because I'm a registered Republican and I can't in good conscience ever vote for Trump.

Sorry. My online persona and real life aren’t always the same.

my record is long. I vote for democrats. I vote for republicans. I vote for independents. I vote for nonpartisan candidates in local elections.

I don’t kiss any politician or political party’s backside.

By no means if you're not a Trump supporter does it make you a far left wing Democrat. However, the positions that Roller (a nice person by all accounts) takes relative to politics is what makes him a far left wing Democrat, imo.

And if you are a registered Republican I can understand why you aren't a Trump supporter but to vote for the nutty bunch on the left is far worst than voting for Trump.

Trump couldn’t give a speech as articulate and well put together as the eulogy Obama gave if his life depended upon it. What part of the eulogy offended you? I knew John Lewis for 30 years. Although as a Republican I didn’t always agree with him, he was a class act. What he did to promote the right the vote for black people was nothing short of extraordinary. I wouldn’t have done it at his age. Herman Cain ran a business and made himself wealthy. That is admirable but nothing compared to what John Lewis put himself through at a time when most people were looking the other way. Without folks like John Lewis, Herman Cain wouldn’t have been able to own a pizza place. He would have only been allowed to clean them. No comparison between the two.
