Hitting Coach hire

Ex Aggie hitting Coach. He was not retained when they fired the last head coach. He does have a good background. Let's hope he has some players to work with.

During Caillet’s dozen seasons in Hattiesburg, the Golden Eagles made one College World Series appearance (2009), finished in the Top 25 on three occasions and made eight NCAA Regional appearances.

The last four years, the Golden Eagles led Conference USA in most offensive categories. Southern Miss was one of five NCAA Division I programs to register 40 win seasons in each of the last four seasons. The 2017 squad racked up 50 wins for the only time in school history as Caillet earned Conference USA Assistant Coach of the Year. The team combined for a school-record 94 wins in 2017 and 2018.

With Caillet in charge of the offense, Southern Miss re-wrote the school record books, setting single-season team marks for runs, RBI, batting average and on-base percentage, among others.

Stuart Lake was our hitting coach for the past two seasons. He had shared those duties with Mike Current, before Current was moved 2 seasons ago to the non-field coaching role of Dir. of player development - I think he held that role as well as co-duties with Lake with hitting, then took on the DPD full-time.

We recently lost our pitching coach to a HC job at Troy, as well as an assistant coach to a lateral move to Arizona. That asst. coach - Trip Couch - coached the outfield and was also our recruiting coordinator.

It sounds like Coach Kingston may be overhauling his entire staff for next season. I haven't seen anything about Lake not staying on with the staff however....

I see the loss of Skylar Meade as a negative. I hope a change in hitting coach, as well as perhaps a change in the approach at the plate, will be an improvement. Also need to tweak up the defense a bit.

I have not seen anything that indicates this guy will be the hitting coach. Our hitting coach (unfortunately) was not one of the coaches who left.. this new guy is one heck of an offensive coach apparently, so hopefully he will at least advice/ have co hitting coach duties if he does not take the role over entirely..

If our hitting coach is isn't reassigned, we are in for a long failure of a ride. Something has to change, hopefully, this coach is the beginning of that change, His background looks very good and appears to be a DEFINITE improvement over what we have had here recently.
