HOW MUCH WOULD A NEW MBB COACH COST?

Every mediocre coach in major conferences earns roughly $1.5 million. So to upgrade to very good coach would be an additional $1 million. For that we would get a packed arena of paying fans and students. If we sold 7000 additional season tickets @ $600 each, we would have an additional $4.2 million to pay the new coach and pay other bills. Cut that in half and and we still have $2.1 million. So if the best coach in the country not permanently locked into a lifetime contract could be hired, why not go for it?

Word out of Alabama is that they're ready to offer Marshall between $3.5-4M a year. That seems about what it would cost to get an elite coach.

The best up and coming coach in the country lost in the first round of the NIT in his third year at his current program. For some reason we hired Darren Horn instead of him. Frank Martin was a great hire at the time we got him though.

Our AD went for the bargain. In the case of Horn, you get what you pay for.

We already have the right coach, so who cares? Hpw much would it cost to have you post without caps lock on?

The right coach? Remind me what our current coach has won and done again? I'll hang up now and listen.

^Frank took KSU to the Elite 8. When is the last time we made it to the Elite 8? Frank is building our program for the long haul and is improving each season.

Its going to cost a lot more than the numbers in the op. First youre going to have to buy out FM's contract. Not happening. These threads are insanely stupid.

Frank did fine. As long as the improvement doesnt level off, keep him.Patience,people.Whats one more year...we've already went this long.

I think we have the right coach. We just have to be patient. Dozier and Silva will be difference makers from the start.

I think we have to give Frank two more years to put ourselves in a position to get a great basketball head coach. That is assuming Frank does not workout and boy I am hoping he does.

But, a school has to give someone a decent chance to turn the program around. It would take almost anyone five years to turn our program around considering where it was when Frank got here. Remember, we lost two good players that transfered to other schools. If not for that, Frank's record would look much better right now.

Great analysis. Freddie. Right on point. We were so far down and then with the transfers, it will take 5 years to see daylight. If we cannot win with Frank Martin, lets give up basketball as a varsity sport. He is going to move us towards the Promised Land if we will have faith in his coaching abilities, and I do.

Frank Martin has a pretty good reputation in college basketball circles and is respected by other coaches. So you think if we let him go after year three, and since he was hired so late year one was really a none factor as far as recruiting, that we can lure a top coach here? Why would any one come if they think after three years and the first one doesn't count you will be after their head also if they aren't in the NCAA's? How about some names of the coaches that you think would leave where they are to come here.

Yep. We could have gotten Odom or Frat Boy 2. Instead, we got a coach who will make us ALMOST forget the FM1 days. He just needs a coupla more recruting cycles. He can coach. Even his detractors should have to admit that.
