If the ball hits the bat twice...

Pretty sure that if the ball hits the bat the second time on the backswing it is a foul ball despite where the ball goes after the second hit.
 
He was still in the box, no out. If it hit him out of the box, the hitter is out and the runner would have had to go back to 1st
 
It's an out if the second contact is intentional. If not intentional, then it's a foul ball.

Not neccessarily true. Yes if the ball hits the bat for a second time, and is ruled to be unintentional, it is a foul ball if the contact is in foul ground. If the ball hits the bat a second time and the ball is in fair territory, and is ruled unintentional, then it's a live ball.

If in any case it's ruled the batter intentionally makes contact twice he is out and no runners can advance.
 
My explanation is for the batter still holding the bat, assuming he is still in the box. If he drops the bat, then your explanation is also correct.

My mistake, you are correct while holding the bat. Didn't realize that was the scenario.
