Our softball team is losing 19-0 in the 4th inning right now. Yikes.

Yes, 19-0 is taking a pounding….but it was against Florida which is one of the premier softball programs. I will say Coach Bev Smith is bringing in better talent every year. After I saw this post I went and looked at the box score and we were down about 6+ runs after the second and Sarah Mooney came in to pitch. I don't believe she has pitched since she transferred to USC…usually catches.

I assume Coach Bev thought the game to be too far out of reach and needed to save Nicki Blue and Julie Surratt for the next game…and the freshman Copeland is still adjusting to the college game so she probably wanted to see if Mooney could give some innings as the season goes on….and that is how it ended up 19-0.

Ummm. Softball team has made the NCAA tournament the last two years. SC's best pitcher Nickie Blue has been out the last two weeks due to injury and just came back (limited in number of pitches she can throw). Yes the results yesterday were not good, but USC's softball program is good. If Blue comes back healthy, they'll be fine. 9 SEC schools ranked in the top 25 in softball. Not exactly an easy league!
