South Carolina's staff put the finishing touches on a three-man running back class today with the addition of junior college product ZaQuandre White.

We mentioned White's name for the first time back in September, in the midst of reporting on the Gamecocks' efforts to add another running back to the 2020 class following the commitment of five-star Marshawn Lloyd.

A former four-star prospect out of North Fort Myers (Florida), White signed with FSU in the 2017 class. The Seminoles' depth chart at the position had some talent ahead of him at the time, so he redshirted and shifted over to linebacker for the 2018 season prior to transferring. White moved to Iowa Western Community College with designs on transferring back to a Power 5 program once he was finished. In 8 games this season, White went over 100 yards 5 times and tallied 10 touchdowns.

South Carolina always eyed taking two backs in this class, but had not ruled out taking three even as far back as the summer.

White announced his intentions to head to South Carolina back in December, but we did not add him to the commitment list at that time because the Gamecock staff had to continue to monitor his academic situation. To be clear, White is not out of the woods there yet and has more work to do in order to become eligible to transfer. We reported last Wednesday that South Carolina was going to proceed with signing him.

White's a guy who can run and has been described to me by multiple sources as someone with talent who can help out as a player who can make things happen on the edge and in space. He'll likely factor in this season for the Gamecocks.
