Recruiting Tidbits
One of Steve Spurrier’s final stops on the recruiting trail will be at Byrnes High School today to see Marcus Lattimore, Brandon Willis, Corey Miller, Nick Jones, etc…. He will be accompanied by assistant coaches Brad Lawing and Jay Graham.
I still project Greenwood (S.C.) four-star defensive end Sam Montgomery to select North Carolina. If he narrows his list to a final three as expected, I think the three finalists will be the Tar Heels, Tennessee and LSU. My feeling is he has known for weeks he wasn’t going to end up in Columbia.
In addition to Montgomery, Carolina is primarily waiting on wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Travante Stallworth and offensive lineman Quinton Washington. I like their chances with Washington, I don’t like them with Stallworth, and I’ll know more on Jeffery after he visits this weekend.
Signing day surprises are always possible, but I can’t say that I am tracking any real possibilities as things stand today. You never know what may happen, though.
