One of USC’s top defensive targets in the 2019 class will be making way back to campus soon…

Georgia linebacker Kalen Deloach has been a prolific visitor of schools, with his family taking steps to try to see most of the programs that have offered and in which he has interest.

South Carolina got in early on this one, with Deloach subsequently blowing up from an offer standpoint. More trips are on the docket with a return to Columbia also on the books. Deloach will see Tennessee next weekend, then FSU the following Monday. South Carolina gets another shot during the weekend of the Garnet & Black spring game; Deloach and his family will arrive on Friday and spend the night in Columbia. Trips to Michigan and possibly Georgia are anticipated early in April.

Deloach’s recruitment projects to be lengthy enough to where he’ll make some official visits during the season after narrowing his list to a more manageable number after this slate of spring and summer visits. South Carolina has given itself a nice foothold here to where the Gamecocks should remain on the list for the duration.

A rising sophomore running back out of North Carolina has hit the Gamecock staff’s radar…

Ramseur (North Carolina) Eastern Randolph’s Kaeman Marley was on hand for one of USC’s junior day events in February and measured in at nearly 6-foot-2, and 207 pounds. From what we have been told, he’s a good-looking young running back who also plays basketball for his high school.

You can check out Marley’s freshman season highlights here:

Another young back, this one from the 2020 class, recently spoke with us about his Gamecock offer…

Virginia’s Chris Tyree was offered a scholarship by the Gamecock staff on a recent weekend visit, his first to Columbia.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder could be one of the most highly rated backs in his class, and certainly his early list of scholarship offers showcases the attention he’s been given so far. FSU, Georgia, Missisippi State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and many others have also extended offers in addition to USC.

Tyree told us that the highlights of the trip for him were sitting in on positional meetings with running backs coach Bobby Bentley and individualized conversations with him, plus the Gamecocks’ “top notch” facilities. It’s early in this one for a prospect that already becoming a national-level prospect. USC’s efforts so far are about laying the groundwork to have a seat at the table.

Florida’s Michael Tarquin has long been on the South Carolina staff’s radar as an offensive lineman in the 2019 class…

So long, in fact, that USC was the first to offer the Sunshine State product as a sophomore. For a period of several weeks now this race has boiled down to Ohio State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. In-state Miami remains in the hunt as well.

We have mentioned that we felt it’s been important to secure an official visit as an in-depth follow-up for Tarquin; the Buckeyes and Sooners have really caught his eye as of late. Eric Wolford’s style and coaching ability are highly appealing to Tarquin, but getting the family back on campus will be helpful. USC’s been on the books for an official visit this spring for a while now; it will take place on April 20. Prior to that, he’ll see Oklahoma on April 13 and an official visit to Ohio State could be happening the weekend of April 6.
