*** GamecockCentral.com caught up with South Carolina quarterback commitment Ryan Hilinski to gather some of his thoughts on USC's start to the 2018 season, as well as the strength of his commitment and other notes.

Because there always tends to be questions about the strength of high profile commitments, even if the worry is unfounded, we still reached out to the Rivals100 prospect and asked him to give us an update.

"I'm not worried about it," he said. "Coach Muschamp and I talk about 'so what, now what?' Okay, we lost a couple games, but what are you doing to get better? You can't let the same team beat you twice. You've just got to keep grinding and rub some dirt between your hands."

Hilinski said his commitment to South Carolina is still 100 percent strong, and noted that his family is likely to finish the search for a home in the Palmetto State upon their next visit.

"Yes sir, we are solid," he said. "Once we come for the Tennessee game, we will find a place."

*** Georgia defensive back Deddrick Holmes is someone who has mentioned South Carolina frequently in interviews and told Phil Kornblut recently that he was heavily considering a commitment this Saturday. At this time, GamecockCentral.com does not project Holmes to be in South Carolina's class. He's someone that the coaching staff has communicated some with, but not a prospect that has been heavily recruited or has been pushed to commit.

*** USC extended an offer on Tuesday to a teammate of a current Gamecock commitment. Tennessee's De'Arre McDonald, who plays with 2019 four-star pledge Joseph Anderson, picked up his second offer when the Gamecocks pulled the trigger.

The 6-foot-1 DB has never visited Columbia, but has heard a lot of good things from Anderson, who has talked with him plenty about South Carolina. Look for Anderson to make his first trip to campus in the near future.

*** Texas defensive back Shiloh Sanders, the son of NFL great Deion Sanders, told GamecockCentral.com that he hopes to take an official visit to South Carolina at some point. No word on a possible date or if it will definitely happen, but noteworthy given the name.
