Recruiting tidbits
I know many of you are worried about how the loss to Florida will affect recruiting. Based on history, I don’t think that one game will have any negative impact, particularly if Carolina rebounds and beats Clemson. Most recruits are smart enough to know that any team can have a let down and run into a buzz saw like the Gamecocks did over the weekend. The key is to not let a negative pattern form, which is why beating Clemson is so important. Keep in mind Florida destroyed LSU and Georgia and it had zero impact on their recruiting.
There will be no official visitors on campus this weekend. Right now, the next time they’re expected to bring in any is the weekend of December 13th.
Some colleges accept ‘D’s’ on the transcripts of junior college players and some don’t. Carolina does not accept them, which is why you’ve seen them back off certain JUCO players. They are still on the lookout for some JUCO offensive linemen who can graduate at mid-term and meet the necessary academic requirements.
Team Information
I know of a lot of players on the team who are angry and embarrassed at their performance against Florida. Whether or not they can harness those feelings and use them to their advantage against Clemson remains to be seen, but there is no doubting how much these players care.
Carolina has an advantage in having two weeks to prepare for Clemson, while the Tigers have to play Virginia this weekend. It gives the Gamecocks a chance to heal and also some extra time to leave the Florida loss in the past.
Safety Akeem Auguste tried his best to get his hamstring ready for the Florida game, but it didn’t quite work out. Having this weekend off really helps him, and he should be full speed or close to it by the time Carolina travels to Clemson.
