It's Pretty Bad When a Tight End...

Just read the article if you really wanna be pissed. Forgetting the O for a minute, our D wizard HC can’t teach our guys how to cover a seam route on a TE? Makes sense.

“Their safeties and (line)backers,” Sternberger said, “they kept miscommunicating on how they were going to guard me. ... After running a few routes, you kind of get a feel for it out there. And when they’re kind of arguing, it’s kind of easy to sense that they didn’t know what was going on.”

This is very disturbing.

And yet we look smaller and weaker than every other team.

Imo this is the most obvious problem with our players - they simply simply don't LOOK as big and strong as the SEC teams we face-week-after-week. The 'dragging' thing is not only an embarrassment, it's an indication that we lack the strength and the tackling technique to stop the other teams' runners.

Something 'ain't right' with our assistant coaches and strength coordinator. They are not getting the job done in 'Year 3'.

"Montac was eventually credited with the stop — but it came after a 53-yard gain. Sternberger dragged Montac for 20-plus yards. Asked if he had ever done that to a defender before, Sternberger laughed and replied, “Just my little brother. Never a football player.”

Humiliating.

OUCH.
I get TE's are always bigger than any safety and CB but still.

They run their mouths off and then get drug for 20 extra yards. Don't ever tempt fate as karma will always bite your hiney or in this case drag your hiney. They need to just shut up and play ball. When the play is over just go get set for the next play. I also think mouthing is part of their problem as the offense is getting set for the next play and they are mouthing off at the opposing player instead of communicating and getting set.

our defense was on the field for 70% of the game

unrealistic to expect a better outcome

our anemic offense cost us the game
After 7.5 years of the exact same thing, can anyone credibly argue that this guy is ever going to change? We’re paying $4.2MM this year for the same thing this guy did in his 1st year at UF.

Problem is he tried to strip the ball instead of tackle.

I agree that was what the play by play guys said and maybe that was true but even so, I don't think Montac could have got him down even without trying to strip the ball. We look very undersized. it's been noticeable all year.

...drags our people down the field, then tells the media it was "easy to see" that our defenders didn't know what was going on out there.

I seem to remember one team’s defenders commenting a few years ago that they knew what our offensive linemen were going to do based on their down hand positions.

Or maybe you’ve just watched Invincible to many times.

But Muschamp has a good history as a head coach. We are recruiting better and will get better.

It’s ok. I’m sure they are all saying “never again” in the locker room. It’s what we do.

Our D will probably gather around the Tennersee TE and talk enough crap to him to get a penalty after his first 23 yard completion.
That'll show em!

That brought back memories of the South Carolina & clemson match in 2016.

He didn’t drag our player. The player didn’t even attempt to tackle him. He was trying to strip the ball and ended up giving the TE a 30 yard escort down the field. He should have been benched.

Overall I was OK with our defense. The offense cost us this game. Even a average offensive showing in the 1st half would have been enough.

Our safety performance was simply horrendous and laughable. The safeties are too small, too slow, too lost, too weak, and too incompetent. No one is an SEC caliber player. Sad but True!

Not surprising

It was AJ Cann. I remember watching that game where it was mentioned

He carried him piggie back, then. Not seeing how that's less embarrassing.
