Especially when they're 18. When they're 22 and not playing QB, it's easier for the nfl because there's a lot of growth in size and skillset that can occur during the college years.

Don't pay attention to star ratings. A 3 star 90% of the time had just as good a chance to be as good as a 5 star in the end.

Most 5 star guys have god given talent, speed, size, that the three star guys don't have. Like it or not, most of the time, there is a difference at the college level. Obviously work ethic matters, but if both work about as hard as one another and both have their heads on straight, my money is on the 5 star.

Pharoh Cooper was a 3 star coming out of HS but plays like a 5 star. I know that ratings are more correct than incorrect but they dont always tell the story. Thats where coaching and evaluation is valuable.

Except for skill positions, the best football players have superior size and strength. The biggest change in size/ strength occurs between a players freshman and senior years. This is where player development( pushed by coaching) makes a difference. A 3 star can catch up to a 5 star lineman by working in the weight room and hitting the training table. After all, a five star lineman generally got that rating by already being close to 300 lbs..That is how Alabama, LSU , Georgia , and (in the past )Penn State have had players stockpiled after redshirting.. All of their players are not 5's, but they have developed between their freshman and senior years.. That is where we are lacking . We get the 3 stars , but they are still 3 stars in their
senior year. I could name names but I will not. I will say our defensive ends were a major disappointment this year in development. Our strength program is lacking when compared to others in terms of player development..
