I've never been much into watching a horse race, but I'll usually see the replay of the big 3 or 4 races each year. I just watched what happened Saturday. Wow!!! Seriously one of the most intense moments I've ever felt watching something sports related. I don't know if it was the fact that he was the biggest underdog out there or what. The call was amazing by the TV guy as well. Really gave me chills.

‘big 3 or 4’??? Only big 3. Just kidding.

Yep, Saturday’s Kentucky Derby was an awesome watch.

Rich Strike and Leon were spectacular…

Hope they get the ‘Quadruple Crown’!

Couldn’t resist.🤣🤣🤣

No 4. You have the breeders cup in November. No it’s not part of the tipple crown but it is part of the sweep. A triple crown winner always wants to win the breeders cup. It’s called the grand slam of horse racing.

If you want to see the most impressive horse race ever, go to YouTube.com and search for Secretariat Belmont Stakes 1973. I think he won by 25 lengths.
I can almost quote the entire race.

The 30 for 30 on secretariat may be the best 30 for 30 out of all of them.

It’s the personalities for me. They are naturally competitive creatures. If you look at the race closely rich strike stares down the leader as he passes him.

TAV, did you watch it from the skycam? From the homestretch on he made up ground quickly. The other horses seemed to be running in mud as he mowed them down. Rich Strike doesnt seem to be a very big horse. But he wanted to win.
The race announcer missed it. He didn’t see RS coming in there until the final few lengths. Came out of nowhere.

The stare down by him as he was able to get around that last horse was amazing. I find it more impressive to navigate through all those horses to win than winning by 31 lengths. Him and the rider looked smoother than a Ferrari cruising down the road.

Question is was it lighting in a bottle or can they do it again. It was defiantly finesse car like.

There is a short article out there about Rich Strike biting the pony and the outrider and the outrider actually punching RS! Eveidently he was still in race mode!

Was in Vegas this weekend, so we decided to watch the Derby on one of the giant screens in the casino.
The look of utter disbelief from all the betters was picture worthy. (I'm sure the house was giddy.)

He holds the record for all the triple crown races. All because of his heart defect.
Incredible to think that his record still stands for all 3 races nearly 50 years later. Consider all of the technological advancements in nutrition, exercise, breeding, etc over the last 50 years. It's incredible.

One of the greatest racehorses in history, Sham, never won a triple crown race. He ran the 2nd fastest Kentucky Derby in history. But he happened to have the bad luck of being a 2 year old in 1973 and finished 2nd at the Derby and the Preakness behind Secretariat.

There have been lots of great race horses and lots of great races, but Secretriat's run at the Belmont is the closest thing to perfection we've ever seen in sports-related endeavors.

3 year olds run the triple crown but yes. Even more bad luck to be going up against a horse with a 1 in a million birth defect that made him super horse.

Kind of like what Charles Barkley said …. “There were a lot of great players and great teams around then, but we happened to come along when Jordan was making his run.”

I’d say the Preakness will be a difficult challenge for them. Short race.
Kudos to the owners for not entering the horse in the Preakness. They know that they don't have a Triple Crown type horse & are placing the welfare of the horse first. I'm sure they'll run him at Belmont.
