Being reported by kornybut that key has Stopped taking our coaches calls and has cut off communications.

Arnette struggled with the decision, but all indications are that he has flipped to OSU

Way to close whammy! It's a shame if this is all true that he could lose recruits who he was basically kept around for
And the so-called pipeline he has in Atlanta. Love the guys we have coming in, just hate to see us lose 8 recruits to flipping to other schools.

That is 8 eight ocho that were with is less than three months ago. How did this happen so quickly!!!

You're just looking for scapegoats. How about the possibility a teenager acted like a teenager? Blame the recruits for once.

This is more accurate. Arden Key has shown zero maturity throughout the entire process. Not sure he'll show any when he gets to Baton Rouge either.

If anything that I said was untrue please tell what it is.....
I can get one or two recruits acting like teenagers, but 8?!?! No chance of that.
We lost eight committed recruits, not thinking about committing to us, but committed players.
Our coaching staff is to blame for this.

IF A KID DOESN"T WANT TO GO TO YOUR SCHOOL...DEAL WITH IT!!!*

Don't mind others opinions, just wondering when as a fan base we will stop giving the coaches the benefit of the doubt every time a recruit drops us.
Is it asking more than we should to see our coaches finish the job? Forget Key in this argument, how about Palmer, Fields, etc what excuse should we use here? Kids being kids?

Fields was always 50/50 between USC and Clemson. Clemson had the better year and better defense, so he went there. Don't buy the nonsense that it was due to staff uncertainty. That was just some BS excuse that Fields gave.

Palmer got worked by a great recruiter in Franklin (PSU) who happened to be just down the road. We got into a battle where PSU could go see him every other day, and we were way too far away to do that.

I've been a Gamecock for over 30 years. If I was a highly sought after d lineman, I'm not sure I'd want to play under Adams. It's an uphill battle to recruit on the d line right now.

That said, from everything I've read, Key handled this pretty badly.

Field's used coaching uncertainty and the chance Grady Brown may not be here. No changes were made and Brown remains. Yet, Field's changed his mind.

How can you blame anyone for jumping ship the way our defense played this year. Players only want to play for coaches that can make them better when all our current defensive coaches have does make our players worse over the last three years. What do you want to blame the recruits for? Having televisions to watch our games?

I think we had a bad year because our D-Line recruiting did not pan out - admittedly, it was very bad last year and the coaches bear responsibility for that. That was last year - don't know where you're getting the 3-year thing from. We've sent a bunch to the NFL over that time and won our share of ball games. . For me, I think we see vast improvement on defense this year given some of the additions, with or without these two. I also think we win at least ten ball games. last year was an anomaly. I don't see how a Carolina fan can, in this day and time can really see it much differently from that.

You and others sound like you have an agenda to run the team down as if that will help. It's not because you're being negative, it's because you words reflect someone who, based on a bad year, is ready to condemn the whole bunch of them without even the least bit of hope that "your team" can rebound with these coaches and the additions that we know are coming. Am I disappointed in how recruiting has gone? A little, but it's not over yet and I can see how this class is going to help what we do. I think your words are insulting to thte kids who have chosen Carolina as their home for the next four years and the ones who are ready to ride with this staff from years past.

Have your opinions, that's fine. But when you use the words you do to express your disappointment, please don't be offended if people question where your loyalty truly is.

With all due respect, how can you possibly make a prediction like this with the unknown we have at the qb position?

Corso said we would never win the SEC because we couldn't recruit. He's right. 3 eleven win seasons don't just get erased by one 7-6 season. The truth is recruiting has been solid since SOS has been here but it just can't get to the elite level. I don't know why guys? It's larger than a specific coach or a bad year or a good year. Out of state were battling for recruits who will more times than not break our hearts. Either this state hits another high spike in great talent or we find someway to recruit North Carolina better than UGA. Or recruit the state of Georgia better than clemsin and Auburn and others. We simply can't sign enough difference makers from our own state and can't sway enough of those guys from out of state.

I kind of agree with you, but Clemson is doing it year in and year out. A decent set of coaches could win a national championship up there within the next 5 years with the recruits they have coming in. Fortunately, I don't think they've got the right coach. But if nothing else, he has shown that it is possible to get great recruits to a South Carolina school.

Between defensive improvement and the return of a dual threat QB that can hurt teams with his legs. Do I know which one? Nope, but think that is a formula that gets us to that win level. Also, Dylan is a great young man and he passed for a record amount of yards this year, but I'm not sure he was the 4th quarter warrior you want in crunch time. I think we can improve in that area as well. Is it speculative - of course it is, none of these guys have shown it. But, that's my thinking.

Good post Judson. We need a better plan of attack in recruiting. We are often reacting instead of being the instigator in the recruiting process. Elite programs lose recruits, they pull from us. We lose recruits, we pull from MAAC schools... We want to be elite, we better start having that headhunter mentality.

I said the same thing the other day and was called a doom and gloomer by Bosoxcock. I said they are signing enough talent up there even Dabo might not be able to screw it up. It's a truthful observation. You'd never know USC has won 5 of 6 from them. For whatever reason it's just harder for us to be a major player out of state. And in state talent is down right now. Doesn't mean I'm happy with it. Just the opposite

Key? If he does choose LSU, it wouldn't be a shock. It is what it is.

Arnette choosing the reigning National Champs? CHOOSING to play for a coach that has won National Championships at 2 different schools in the last 10 years? Yeah...that makes sense. He was a guy I REALLY wanted for this team but I understand WHY he made the decision he made.

As for the coaching staff, some of them are mediocre...and when you combine mid tier recruiting with mediocre coaching, you get what we had this past year.

TRUTH?

The talent we had on the defensive side of the ball for the 3 years preceding 2014 was good enough to win a National Championship...combine that with a proven winner in Connor Shaw who made everyone on the offensive side of the ball better? We did WELL, but it was definitely not enough.

Fast forward to post Clowney and the talent drop off was catastrophic. We EARNED that 7-6 record because our defense was as bad as our offense was good (at times).

So moving forward, we have to decide if we are going to recruit better, bring in better coaches or both. I don't think we can afford another mediocre year...not without a legacy like a National Championship or a tradition as a powerhouse...not in the SEC.
