Flower Mound girls basketball coach Sherika Nelson confirmed in an email Thursday that junior star forward Lauren Cox has narrowed her list of college choices to six - national champion Connecticut, national runner-up Notre Dame and Baylor, Louisville, South Carolina and Tennessee.
UConn won its third consecutive national championship this season, beating Notre Dame 63-53 in the title game. Notre Dame has played in the national championship game four of the last five years. South Carolina made the Final Four this season, while Baylor and Tennessee reached the Elite Eight.
The 6-4 Cox is ranked as the nation's No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2016 by ESPN's HoopGurlz. She averaged 21.7 points, 15.3 rebounds and 5.4 blocks and was named SportsDay's All-Area Player of the Year after leading Flower Mound to the Class 6A state semifinals.
Cox was named the Texas Girls Basketball Player of the Year by Gatorade. She was selected as a second-team All-American by MaxPreps.com.
