Leach already in hot water at Mississippi State

Not to insert myself into the argument, but you actually think the family of a murdered teen would not want people to remain aware of him and the incident? Okay...

There are many reasons a family might want to not be so public about such a thing.

it’s not as if something like a racially motivated murder couldn’t be hushed up a bit or facts changed some to keep things from looking so bad for a family, town, community or police department. I’m not saying that happened. I am saying it’s certainly reasonable.

It’s not as if we haven’t seen crazy things before. Regarding James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner in Mississippi in the 1960s where they were murdered, no one locally wanted to talk about it, and it took 40 years later for anyone at all to really be held accountable.

Your points are reasonable. Still, in this case, I think a guy got called on one and, in normal fashion, decided to ramp up the anger on go on the offensive.

I cannot believe we have evolved into racialist bickering during a pandemic! Don't you folks realize, there is a virus out there!
Man, I am sorry about that. Dude was trying to do me like Barack Obama with the birth certificate and it ticked me off. Stay safe out there.

I would like a large T Bone steak, baked potato and some cherry coke. I don’t need your dinner, but I do hope you’ll read the article, watch the video and realize that 2020 is still not the right time to joke about a lynching. That would be more important to me than a meal.

It wasn't a joke about lynching. People made it about lynching. It was about a wife tired of her husband being at home. I'd post a link to the pic if I didn't think some special people would try to get me banned.

I was actually kind of joking. You didn't start it, and I took the bait also. Hope I didn't sound to harsh.

it was deleted because you started hurling personal insults, not because I pointed out old, white, angry folk are huge part of Trump’s base.

I'm tried of being called an old angry white person. You sure have it out for white Americans that worked all of their lives to make a better America so you PC leftist can complaint about us and make us the focal point of all that is wrong with our wonderful nation.

So, why are Roller's points reasonable and not mine. For the record, I wasn't that angry and just was not going to give the guy what he wanted. It's like Barack Obama with the birth certificate. I could have given him the town and 30 witnesses. It's not like the guy was just going to believe it then. Obama gave up the birth certificate and you had people out there questioning the stamp. I handle those type situations differently. I just call it a stupid question and refuse to answer. However, if you are really 50-ish, you know what time it was back then and to question it is just stupid in my opinion.

i didn’t call you anything.

The irony is that FGF has become a microcosm of the very thing Leach's tweet was illustrating with a joke. Cooped up "in here" together during the shutdown, with no Gamecock sports to talk about, many of you have come to hate each other. Lol.

We cant get sports back fast enough.

Come to hate each other? You think that’s new? Lots of hate on here, not just recently.

Voting Republican has become an activity analogous to watching an episode of Matlock with a tall glass of Metamucil: ordinary for the elderly, but a marker of eccentricity among the young.

Much like you, the author is a narrow minded, mentally lethargic fool, teeming with unfounded hubris. He uses the same trite, intellectual cud that is integral to the unsound, liberal mind. While he maybe be hackneyed and presumptuous, he makes up for it by not being funny. In other words, he's just like you, except I guess he's at least getting paid for it. You should go join the comment section. A den of idiots sharing the same 2 or 3 faded opinions and same 1 or 2 underused brain cells. You'll fit right in.

To be fair, though, the author is still more independent than you, Rollerroach.

Baby boomers caused that, early 60’s.........apparently mom & dad couldn’t control themselves after WW2.

COE, do you see or hear from our old friend tailgatecock. I always really enjoyed talking to him at the Gamecock Football Kickoff parties. He is a nice guy but I haven't seen him on the boards in a longtime.

Yes, it's not a sports thread or even an issues thread now. It's degenerated into a crap-slinging contest pitting a few extremists against each other - two in particular..

If you have any black friends, show that to them and see if they feel the same way.
I am married to a black woman and we have 3 biracial daughters, plus my inlaws and all of their family. My wife and daughters and most of her family would laugh at the idea of that being racist, although unfortunately, there are a few in her family always looking for something to be offended over as well.....

I posted the pic. I think its somewhere back on like p. 2. I have been looking online for a distortion pedal all evening. Came back here and see its gotten interesting.....

Black people are not a monolith and of course are not going to all take something said the same way. However, sometimes to take an objection to something that is being said is not the same thing as being offended. It just may be a boundary that I don't want you to cross because I don't know you like that. Like I said earlier with Leach, I get the joke but think it was in very poor taste and just would not go over well given that Leach is new and has no known track record with the Southern Black community. It's like me becoming a Dean at a college that is majority female and start telling jokes connected to some form of Domestic Violence. I am not going to be received well and probably would not be there too long.

No, it isn't like that at all. Leach's shared meme was not a joke about racism, lynching, or anything related to it. (It used an item which is viewed by some as a symbol of racism.)
For your analogy, you would need to become Dean at a female college, tell a joke about a golfer who gets drunk and breaks his 4-iron in a fit of rage, only to then be told that because alcohol abuse and anger issues are related to some domestic violence incidents, you have committed a PC faux pas and must apologize and take sensitivity training.

Did I say the joke was about racism. No, I did not. I think I can decipher that the joke is about relationships. At the same time, you can't let everything in poor taste pass just for the sake of getting along. When you do that you establish that someone can say any raggedy thing they want without a cost. So, no nooses for me from my football coach at least until we establish a relationship that he is cool with me. That is just how I operate. The next guy may let it go and that is fine by me too.

If you can't see the difference between what Leach did and your hypothetical domestic violence joke, well, I'm not sure you understand as many things as you probably believer you do.

I'm not going to split hairs with you about Leach's meme and my hypothetical. I can set my boundaries where I want to and you don't have to like it. You can set your personal boundaries where you want and I am not going to take one minute trying to convince why you're wrong. I am either going to choose to fall in line with those boundaries or choose to not have a relationship with you. So, let's establish that what Leach did was not racist but Black people have the right to not give him a chance because he made a poor first impression as well.

disagree. The author of that piece was spot on. You continue to prove it.

I don’t have to tell you but you shouldn’t waste anymore time explaining this to this crowd. He could have worn a white sheet and some on here would be defending it and telling people not to be sensitive.

Leach’s boss had a problem with it and that’s what counts. Some of his players had a problem with it, and that’s what counts.

That's absurd, being that, one, I don't fit the demographic. And two, his predictable, tedious screed has all the banality of a freshman sociology major's first term paper.

Like the author, you're as deep as a puddle.

If anyone is an expert on white sheets, it should be a known racist goon like you. I'll have to defer to your expertise, pigot.

Let me get this thread back on track.

"Parker High School received the honor of being placed in the Top Ten High Schools Scholastically in America in 1955, 1957, 1960, 1966 and 1971 by the National Education Association. To date, Parker High School is the only South Carolina high school to have achieved this status five times."

Hard to know about this one since the tweet was deleted. But I'd say it showed poor judgment. By that I mean a "noose" is a metaphor for lynching. He should have known that and obviously realized it later. When you consider the context, I am 100% certain he did not mean it that way.

It won't affect his coaching.
You people drew a direct line from a tweet with a picture of a noose to lynchings. Now you're wanting to bring various other forms of racism. So now you are saying a noose is the universal symbol for any and all forms of racism?
Easy with the "you people". That may offend someone on this board. Formal apology necessary. Just saying. Go Cocks..... Oooops, I hope I didn't offend anyone by saying Cocks.

Rollerdude 123, I have never known anyone who was so much against a particular demographic in the USA than your disdain for older white Americans than you. Are you smart enough to know that you might get old someday? I don't think you are.
