Low Country Fuel Situation?

Guys, my wife and I have a week scheduled at HHI starting this Thursday.

Does anyone in that area have a SitRep on current supply of gas in that area?

If you have any news on projections for the next week that would be appreciated also.

If the prospects are poor I'd rather eat the cost of the condo than risk being stranded down there. Although, I guess golf carts don't use much gas...

Cool. They reported on the news this morning that the pipeline should be fully functional by the weekend. Which means as long as we can make it down there we should be ok. We won't be using much fuel while we're there.

It's mostly getting there and back that I was worried about.

Having USMC in your user name and using sitrep in the post may be the most cringe I’ve ever read on here.

Hard to say. We live on Johns Island, went to fill up last night. Two stations on Johns ran out, found a station on James Island that was close to running out.

I am in the military.

It’s incredibly “look at me” and “thank me for my service”
I never meant it to come off that way. Honestly, when someone does thank me. I find it embarrassing. Because I had some of the greatest times of my life while I was in. The parts that were difficult made me a much better person. I made life-long friends. And I got paid.

After all that to have someone "Thank" me just seems over the top.

The closest colonial pipe is in north Augusta. It’s a spur line that ends here. But a lot of trucks do deliver to the coast from here. I would imagine the coastal terminals will keep the low country fueled during this time.

Passed 4 gas stations heading into downtown Charleston this morning.

3 were out of gas. The fourth had a long line and a police car present.

When the price of fuel get up to the $3.50 - $4.50 range, there will be PLENTY. Jimmy Carter administration redux of the "oil shortage". We've gone from energy-independence for the first time in 50 years to gas lines....thanks to Democrats

Absolutely positively I understand what has happened in the last 6 days...Another Biden boner....try to find gas now, and get it for less than $4, and it will get higher. The results of the Biden "election" will pay more negative results in the future...check back in a few months and tell everyone how much you love his shit - or, just continue to keep your head stuck up your ass.

I’m not a Biden supporter, head not up ass and gas only 2.67gl TODAY in Charleston and I found plenty if anyone else needs it. You have a grand time playing with that Boner.

I drove round-trip between Charleston and south of Savannah today...was able to do so fairly easily from a gas perspective. I'd say maybe 25% of the pumps had bags on them, and there were no lines to speak of. To be safe, I topped off my tank going south in the morning and back north in the afternoon. Spent maybe $15 each time.

To the OP, if I had a condo reserved and paid for, I'd probably make the drive. Just look for gas stations that are not in close proximity to any larger metro areas. I would imagine that is where most of the problem lies...folks driving to/from home and filling up at every opportunity.

Thanks for the assist guys. Made it to HHI from Lexington in just over 8.5 hours including 2 gas stops. Didn't want to run under half a tank with the refuel situation in doubt.

If you've never used the Gas Buddy app before. It was very helpful and accurate. There was gas at each locale we stopped.

Staying until the 20th. Available for golf through the 19th.

Thanks again.

Was in Beaufort for most of the past week. Filled up at the EnMarket on Boundary St. in front of Polk Village on Monday with no issues.

Have you ridden over the new bridge crossing the Harbor River ? It's a spectacular view of the ocean from the top.
Not yet, haven’t been to Hunting Island since it opened. Glad it was built though. The old bridge was way too narrow.

Outside of seeing that said on Facebook what has changed to impact energy-independence or this current situation?

Gas along the coast is much more plentiful because much of it here comes from water borne imports (ships). There is a terminal in Savannah and Charleston. You will be fine in HH.
And yes, Biden is clueless. But the people around aren't and they love their socialism.

Congrats on making a good call by not cancelling the trip...hope you enjoy a ton of R&R at Hilton Head! It's changed a lot over the past 20+ years, but is still a special place. So calm and peaceful...

Refined gasoline is delivered by tanker in Charleston harbor?
Which terminal do the ships use to dock?

Then you're probably not gonna like that between active duty and reserves, I did 25 years before I retired from military service in 2010.
You be proud of your service hard charger and don't let the Commies on this board get you down. I only did 8 years in the Corps but they were a great experience that I have always valued.
