LSU Will Pay Their DC $2.5 Million Per Year

Who cares where the money comes from? The point is we pay people who coach kids in a game ungodly sums of money in an effort to be the big winner. The sad part is that there is always a winner and always a loser so the only real winners here are the coaches that are making all this money and the only real losers here are all who continue to dump more and more money into it every time they dont "win it all."

This! $6850 a day. Ridiculous.
Society has the wrong priorities.

It's a late-stage capitalist society. That's the problem. Capitalism is great in the early stages when it's first developing, but the exact nature of capitalism is to amass wealth and use it to make more wealth. I love the idea of the free market, and of working to build up your own economic position... but we've come to a point where the super-rich are now in such control of our society that they are able to horde their riches in such a way that is harmful to everyone who is not super-rich.

Look at the Panama Papers. It is the rule, not the exception for the super-rich to use their shadow world of finances to protect and shield their money in ways that your average guy simply can't. There are people in the world so rich that we would not even be able to conceive of the lifestyles and power they have. You might THINK you can, but you can't.

Who needs this much money? Who needs $6850 a day when there are people struggling to make ends meet? Why should there NOT be a cap on something like this? Teachers make $30,000 a year starting out... police make $50,000 a year starting out. It's enough to make you sick.

Thank capitalism.

Texas just gave our DC a raise to $2 million because Notre Dame was after him after A&M stole the ND DC.

You are not thinking logically. We want people to have ideas and start companies that make them very rich. That is good for everyone.

Nor do you seem to know history. Especially the "we've come to a point where the super-rich are now in such control of our society" part. The Rockefellers, Carnegies, Vanderbilts, etc dwarfed the billionaires today in real dollars. Wealth was far more concentrated in 1900 with the train magnates and later oil magnates than today.

Yes. The DC at Corndog-U is so full of great ideas that are going to be so great for all of us. You really are just stating another version of trickle-down economics. And I don't care if you're Conservative, Liberal, Dem, Republican... trickle-down ain't working. This is evidenced by the concentration of wealth as it is now.

Anyway, I'm so radical on this issue it would probably shock you.

Since you are historically aware of wealth concentration in the 1900s, you should be fairly open to this chart that proves that we are back at that point now:

Bottom line: in capitalism your value (and thus pay) is basically commensurate with profit. That's why we get the common complaint of "why does a football player make millions of dollars to play a game and teachers and police get paid peanuts." Problem is that without teachers or police, you wouldn't have football.
