Bummer! I never know what to say in these situations. I’m glad he a good perspective. He is still coaching at Miami I think.

It's a mix of good news bad news. The Good news, he isn't dying anytime soon. Bad news, he has to live with Parkinson's rest of his life and it can be a long life. As long as you can get diagnosed early, you can still live a long productive life.

My father had Parkinson's, diagnosed late and passed away at age 77 within 4 years. My uncle had it diagnosed early, lived with Parkinson's for 25 years until he passed away at the age 82. My father-in-law also had Parkinson's, just passed away at the age 91 with complications from Parkinson's. He was diagnosed at the age 79 and passed away at 91. Normally you don't die with Parkinson's. You pass away from complications of Parkinson's. Michael J Fox has had it for 30 years or so.

Doctors don't anything about Parkinson's back in the 90's. I diagnosed my father with Parkinson's and took him to Duke University to see the best and brightest. The doctors at Duke dismissed my diagnosis it because 1, I wasn't a doctor and 2, Parkinson's isn't hereditary. They were wrong ob both cases and he ended up having Parkinson's for a couple of years earlier before they diagnosis my father with Parkinson's. I have a personal stake on this Parkinson's disease.

I think the key for Mark Richt is try to stay active and move around, along with medicine.

Why is it always the good guys? Man, that's bad news. But he has his life and priorities in order. Prayers and well wishes to MR, truly one of the good guys!

Sad . I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him . Even the UGA fans who ran him out had nothing but glowing things to say about him as a role model and mentor . He’s definitely one of the good guys . Prayers to him and his family
