In fairness, the weather was crappy... but to be honest, just goes to show that our fans are like everyone elses. We love a winner... and when things get tough, we stay away and moan that we're not going to pay to watch the team lose. I was there last night and at the PC game too. There were probably more PC fans at that game than SC fans. Pathetic. I understand people want to win and watch your team play well, but you have to support your team through thick and thin. Doesn't help recruiting to have this magnificent stadium and nobody in it because some fans only want to attend games when they are positive the home team will win. I don't understand the season ticket holders who stay away. Give the tickets away if you're not going to use them.

So much for the home field advantage. I do believe there is something to playing in front of the home crowd. It seems to make a difference in my opinion.

I want the team to play well and win, but it's still baseball. At least for me, it's entertainment, win or lose and great fun to take the family, let the kids play, eat a hot dog and root for the home team (as the song goes). Too bad we've gotten to the point where it's all about the wins and nothing else.

I'll be there tonight and Saturday too. Hope the real fans will show up and get behind the 19-20 year old kids wearing the garnet and black.

Go Gamecocks!

I don't go to many games but I watch every one on the internet or tv and root my team on. I was watching in the 9th inning last night when it was 12-0. Guess that makes me a "fake" fan.

Yep...it's the fans' fault. If they had just shown up......

I was there... it was a lot more than 500 at the beginning but not many at the end. The performance of the team was pathetic. Time for Tanner to earn his money. I don't see how he can stomach seeing the program he built dismantled like this even though he'll have to fire his buddy. He will probably give him another year but I think that is a mistake. Amazing to me how Tim Corbin convinces all these MLB caliber pitchers to come play at Vandy. He's always been a great recruiter.... when he and then Sullivan left Clemson they (Clemson) really took a nose dive and have not been able to recover. I just don't have in confidence in our current staff to turn things around. We don't have the pitching, hitting, or fielding to win against hardly anybody. I've never seen our baseball program like this and I've been watching them a long time.

6905 was the official total for last night game. This whole tickets sold to how many really show up thing. Is an eembarrassment to the school. There was maybe 300 at the game.

Reading most of his recent posts....I do believe JasonScottinSC is a major Chad Holbroke supporter.

CH is not RT's "buddy." CH approached RT several years back about working for him in Cola.. He was hired as "coach in waiting."

Get out of here with this bull5hit. Make your argument, if you will, but leave this crap out. You go to games...big deal, want a cookie? You have no idea what kind of fans are out there.

Unfortunately it's not that easy to find people who want to go for the very reasons you state above. Folks want to go see a winner. Also, a lot easier to get rid of tickets for a weekend game than midweek for a myriad of reasons.

Yep, I am a Holbrook supporter. Not ashamed of that. He's a good man and knows more about baseball than anyone on this board. Bad year, no question. Hope he can get it back on track next year. Not quitting on the team I pull for. I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are yours. I think fans should support their team when things are tough and not just ride their coattails when they win. What's wrong with that? Obviously folks want to see a winner, but it's not going to happen all the time. I just get tired of fans saying "I'll be back when we starting winning." That's not what a fan is to me.

Got news for you, unless he gets caught for NCAA violations or something like that, he's still going to be our coach at the end of the year regardless of what happens, so dumping on him and these kids isn't going to change anything.

I hear Gamecock fans talk about how they still filled WIllliams-Brice even when the team was 0-11. That's not the case apparently in baseball. Too bad. I still enjoy going to the games, but too many folks getting angry and pitching fits like spoiled 5 year olds because this year's team isn't as good.

I'll say what I want, and so can you. If you don't like it, ignore me, and I'll do the same.

You can just sit and stew and get back on the bandwagon when we start winning again.

Go Gamecocks.

However, this is Holbrook's third season and things have gotten

progressively worse with no sign of improvement. Why sit back and do nothing and allow the team to get even worse.

Holbrook has had his chance and has shown he is not up to the task. It is time for a change.

Bandwagon? Me? Surely you jest. I've been going to games for 36 years, and I've sat through MUCH worse than what is going on now. So please don't assume I am fan that simply "rides coattails". I'm actually one of the few on here that tries to bring some rational thought to discussions regarding our baseball team. FTR...only reason why I wasn't there last night is I live in Charleston, and have this thing called a job.

I am actually the one who brought up (last week) how we filled WB when we were 0-11 but can't extend the same courtesy to our baseball team.

BTW...barring a torrential downpour I'll be there tonight and tomorrow. How's that for bandwagon?

And to think, in the last few years there have been posts on top of posts about expanding the baseball stadium. Myself and a few other dissenters have always said, "Well, let's wait and see what happens if we have a down year." Now we have our answer. You could have fit last night's crowd in most high school stadiums around the state, and that's not an exaggeration.

Excellent point there Jack. I remember those discussions well. I believe a main part of the argument against was poor attendance at midweek and OOC weekend games.

Planning on bringing grandson tonight and will be looking for a ticket for Sat game so the 3 of us can come.

When the team is sucking wind, fans will not come out on cold, rainy Thursday night... You might have seen about 3,000 - 4,000 if the team was playing better and looking number 5 vs. number 6 teams.

With that said, I agree with you on your statement. I don't like going to a mid-week game, specially on a cold and rainy Thursday night.

I heard over the radio Tuesday night that PC fans out numbered us.... That was sad to hear on the radio at The Ray..

The tail doesn't wag the dog. For most of us, watching Gamecock sports is a recreational pastime. I really don't see the point in criticizing fans who choose to spend their recreational time and money doing something else. I may not agree that they made the right choice, but it's their time and money to do with as they wish. The baseball team isn't a charity organization and unless my kid plays on the team, I shouldn't feel compelled to show up if I don't find it enjoyable to watch them. Fortunately or unfortunately, most people find the Gamecock baseball team's play over most of this season to be a frustrating and difficult thing to watch.
