I know that football has gone the route of junior college to fill certain needs and gaps in recruiting. Should basketball look at doing the same? Seems like we could find a guy that could make a three occasionally or find a big that can grab a rebound and do something with it... I know the rebuild is going to be a process, but watching the last three losses, they could have easily been wins with the addition of one or two players. JMHO

I think it's unlikely at this point. We're sitting on 12 of 13 available scholarships right now, with one player (Johnson) graduating. That leaves two spots open for next year, and we already have two commitments. However, considering that three of our four regulars underneath graduate next year, that we only have one forward currently committed, and that bigs normally need a year or two to develop, I expect us to sign one more forward/center and for someone to transfer. I expect that to be Reggie Theus.

This could all change if Blanton doesn't recover (God forbid). In that case I would expect us to either sign another big this year or possibly snag a shooting guard from the juco ranks. But that's the only scenario in which I see us signing a juco player.

For the record, I think we have the tools to win right now. People seem to forget that we took an OK State team currently sitting at #26 in AP poll to the woodshed and beat a then-and-current top ten ISU team on a neutral floor. What's really frustrating me isn't that after three years we have not talent, it's that after three years we have all this talent that's too busy sticking its thumb up its butt to play. If they get their heads out of their asses we still have a chance at the NIT.

1. Scholarships are a year to year deal obviously meaning if the right kid(s) come along someone currently on scholarship could conceivably lose their scholarship.

2. Blanton recovering or not should and really doesn't have any bearing on Martin bringing in a true big. In the event Martin maintains all the scholarship players as of today he still has room to go after a juco who might be able to make an immediate impact , then again with this being South Carolina , not too many are seriously beating on the door to play here.

3. This team does not have the talent to go in night after night , game after game and produce as was the case regarding the two games (OK State , very early in the season, and Iowa State) that you mentioned. Seems like after the Iowa State win too many read too much ( players and fans) into the potential of the program. One win is not going to make the season for sure..especially when you apparently go in reverse since that win.

4. Recruiting - Wow , what can be said..while there is some talent within the program , not enough of the major college hoops talent that is needed to compete nationally if even within the SEC. Martin needs to get on the stick and bring in some difference makers.
