Yesterday I attended a meeting at a fitness club in Greenville about participating in a fitness challenge. There were 4 other people there for the dog and pony show. We were asked to introduce ourselves, and to share 30 seconds of biographical info, and why we were interested in the challenge. The moderator of the meeting was a young UK grad who had studied health and nutrition. I was very impressed by him. Then there was a 25 year old girl (young enough to be my daughter) who I gathered had decided to attend college a little later in life at Clemson. As it came my turn to speak, I ended my introduction by saying that I was a proud graduate of the University Of SC. The 51 year old woman sitting next to me immediately gave me a high 5. The moderator also immediately raised his eye brows, and said, “Ah, we have a rivalry in this group.” I just smiled, and let out a friendly chuckle, and then it happened. The young Clemson student went into attack mode, and said, “OMG, I went to that game last year. Your fans are horrible!” Now I had only known this girl all of 5 seconds, before she pounced. I mean, who does that! At that point, I smiled and told her and the group that I could tell a few horror stories about Clemson fans myself!

We put up with a lot of crap from Clemson folks here in the upstate, but whenever I meet someone (Clemson fan/grad or not), I am respectful. I never put down Clemson folks or start a bitchin’ contest. I mean, who does that! However, if they want to start up with me, I’ve got plenty of ammunition!

Typical tiny tot behavior!

As has been said recently on other threads, some people suck. Youth is never an excuse but maturity certainly is. Hopefully in time this girl will grow up.

Good luck in the fitness challenge!

GO COCKS!

My car was vandalized at a baseball game up there. A baseball game. I've been back up there only once since.
The last year I had season tickets we played them at home. 10-15 Taters of student age stayed in the parking lot as the last of us started walking to the stadium. After the game, which we lost, the Taters, a chair, and all of our car magnets were gone. This had never before happened to us in 30 years of attending games.

Her brain has obviously not matured to the point where one realizes that just because a few people are rude it doesnt mean everyone from that group is that way. Or she is just stupid.

I have had to tell a few of them to shut up myself. Most are drunk. One issue is they tend to find tailgating spots mixed in with older alumni. They hang around afterwords and drink more because they have nowhere to be. What really ticks me off is when they start taking a whiz in the tailgate area. I really let into them when they do that.

Don't forget the Clemson Board of Trustees Member who punched a doctor in the head at The Graveyard during a soccer match. Rednecks are going to redneck.

I've been to taterville for a game once. That was enough for me. I've been lucky that the taters that have sat around me when we played at home were actually decent. I still take my flags off my truck when I go into the stadium though because I've seen people who have had theirs ripped off at home.

2014 baseball game at home (the Friday night game) --

We had a family of Clemson fans sitting in the seats next to ours (Sec 4, Row 1, right next to OUR dugout). Which, by the way, belonged to the Coaches (Ray heard about that within about 5 minutes of them sitting down, and it hasn't happened again). We were, of course, having our normal conversations about how the games had been going of late between the schools. Musing about them not being able to beat us in the post season. Well the lady in the family turns around and starts in on my Daddy yelling "this is why no one likes coming here. All we hear is this kind of *expletive*!". Let's just say mouthing off to my Daddy went over like a lead balloon with me, and I let her have it. I politely, but firmly (in my best Julia Sugarbaker attitude) asked her "what did he say that wasn't true", and if she didn't like sitting here, feel free to move over to their area. She started smarting off about "do you know whose seats these are, we're friends of the coaches, blah, blah, blah." Again, in my best Julia Sugarbaker, I told her that yes, we do know whose seats they were sitting in, as we have had our seats since the ballpark opened, and that it was being taken care of to ensure it never happened again. She said "we'll see about that". She sat there with a smug grin on her face as Clemsux took the early lead, making little snide remarks. We just ignored her. But when Gray hit the Slam to make the score 6-5, although they were still in the lead, she was reminded that she was in OUR ballpark - again, politely but quite loudly. It continued as we racked up more runs. They left before the 9th.

Every fan base has them. Anyone that says other was is ignorant or just... ignorant.

As it comes to fans my experience has been (worst to annoying)
Georgia > Ohio State > Clempson (extremely close behind Ohio State) > Tennessee > Virginia> FSU

As I put in another post, every fan base has them.

Recent graduate in 2003, I almost got into a fight with another Gamecock student because they thought I was a Georgia fan (i guess them being drunk, my garnet turned to red) while I was talking to a Clempson friend of mine.

On the other end of the spectrum, (Awesome fans to Nice Fans) {Yes.... I know a lot of people have bad experiences with Florida... I don't)

Auburn > Florida > Texas A&M > Nebraska > Missouri

Georgia and Tenn fans are the kind that try to start fights and will key your car in a heartbeat. Ohio St and UVA are just arrogant a$$es. FSU is kinda a blend of the two (I suspect thats how most of yall view us, kinda like the redneck who won the lottery. Might have money, but still a redneck)

It not about age or maturity. I work with a woman 45+ but looks older. At my first Christmas party in front of the entire management team she proceeds to tell me and everyone that I am an idiot for going to school at USC!!! Needless to say I was respectful but I have never once since then respected her. They are just nasty people.

Sounds to me that those fan bases hate you as much as we do.

Nah. You all hate us more. Of course, no one ever says "boy, I really hate Wake Forest football fans." Its a balance between loving your football team but not to the point where youre a jacka$# about it.

You might to add those wonderful people in UNCCH and NC St. The best: Ole Miss

By the way, don't forget about parking selection upcoming on the 25th

Clemson fans are getting nervous. the past few years, i have been able to talk football with them quite easily, and they were somewhat respectful.....b/c our team had no shot at beating them.

Now that the worm is starting to turn, i am unable to even bring up football season w/o them getting hot and bothered...."oooh, you guys get some recruits and now want to talk football, blah blah.."

Its quite obvious what is really bothering them. We are almost back to spanking that azz on the regular

Living in Charlotte for 10+ years... i've started to have more and more UNC friends so my opinion is kinda jaded. A few of my friends are huge ***holes when it comes to sports with UNC though.

Same with NC State, a lot of my friends at USC ended up going to post grade at NC State. Friends with some awesome people there.

After the debacle with the tater formation and taunt of the student section my wife said, but they do that at every game. I said yeah, no one else does that, led by coaches, no less. Prime example of low class behavior, BY THE ACTUAL TEAM. I showed her videos of guys digging in other guys' butts and asked her where's the class Dabo was pretending to have after the end zone stunt. Everything's OK until it gets on TV I guess.

I get that interactions at athletic contests, and anywhere alcohol is involved will entice people to do and say stuff they would likely not do or say elsewhere.

Yeah, I live in GA so I don't have that problem...

I always love this debate whose fans treat each other worse, their are good fans and bad fans among both fan bases, bad videos of all fan bases on you tube

Usually the bad fans have had some drinks that day

Here is Clemson Fan Cameron at a past South Carolina Clemson game that was drunk and got confused and keyed a Gamecock fan's trunk because he thought they stole his invaluable irreplaceable Clemson Beer Koozie.
