Last I looked, the confederate flag was the original flag of the democrats...

Oh??? Did I say that out loud???
I'm sure you know this, for those who don't, core beliefs of the Democratic and Republican parties changed dramatically between the 1800s and today. In the 1860s, for example, a majority of the South were Democrats with very conservative beliefs.

Sounds like Ray is on board with this horrible idea. One would figure that some restraints will be in place. But Ray better have a good talk with players. The message that is even slightly controversial in this day and time will be cause for huge blow back for the individual player.

We will see what conferences, commissioners, AD`s have enough courage to keep college sports out of politics and individual opinions when all we want to see when we tune in is a game.

..and you must get super fired up at the display of a confederate flag.
Wait...isn't it someone's right to display a confederate flag? I wouldn't, but gosh, we are being so inclusive these days, its seems to me like that would be a "right" too. I must have misunderstood something.

I think this opens a huge can of worms. Will only PC, pro left phrases be adopted?? Can you put Bible verses on your patch??? I tune into sports as an escape to politics, don't like it in the pro sports. Certainly don't think it should be adopted by college's.
You have to be selective and awoke in your speech and protests.

As you know that's a myth that the democrats like to spread because they can defend their own democrats..

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. I thought this was common knowledge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Republican_Party_(United_States)

"The (Republican) party opposed the expansion of slavery before 1861 and led the fight to destroy the Confederacy (1861-1865). At its inception, the Republican Party had almost no presence in the Southern United States."

This isn't a debate about Republicans vs Democrats. When you claim "the confederate flag was the original flag of the democrats", you should realize that the makeup of the parties and what they stand for has changed significantly since those parties were established.

It won't include ticket sales loss, parking revenue or concession losses. Some other sports will find their way out.
but my point was to the guy who said if you want to hit them hard, turn off the tv. All that is doing is keeping you the fan from watching the game.

Both parties oppose slavery now so it a dead issue. The Republicans are now conservative (some of them) and the Democrats are socialist/communist (some of them)

I wish we could leave politics out of all sports so we can just enjoy the game without the drama. Do we not get enough politics on the TV and internet? Do we really need more of it, or could we use a break from it?

Oh, I'm betting that none of the commissioners, ADs will have the courage to put any constraints on what can be worn on the jerseys.

I think many of the players see this as their right to push issues. Too bad they can kill the golden goose for players who follow.

Then why is it conservatives/Republicans are pretty much the only ones that support keeping Confederate flags and monuments in their current places of "honor" while progressives/Democrats are the ones advocating for their relocation to museums?

Why do Democrats believe in keeping statues and monuments to slave owners George Washington and Thomas Jefferson?

That will open a can of worms.
Let’s see what happens if anyone tries to put a conservative patch on their uniform. Only pro left patches will be allowed I’m sure. This opens the doors for a lot of problems.
Remember the Tebow rule? Couldn’t have messages on your eye black. Bible verses were too offensive.

I just really want sports to stay sports during the games. By all means, share your opinions but please do it outside of field of play.

im glad to see it. Let teams put what they want on a patch, or let players Decide themselves.

An elected republican in Alabama just resigned from his job (he was supposedly a terrible pastor of a tiny church) because he was speaking at a “birthday celebration” for the very racist Nathan Bedford Forrest. Yeah, some people in Alabama celebrate him.

at the “party” numerous confederate flags adorned the speaker podium and backdrop.

and of course Trump, in a nod to the racists in his base, has said:

Donald Trump has claimed that people who display Confederate flags are “not talking about racism” and threatened to veto any legislation that includes measures to rename military bases named for Confederate leaders.

“When people proudly have their Confederate flags, they’re not talking about racism,” the US president told Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday in a preview of an interview to be aired on Sunday.

“They love their flag, it represents the South.”

The president also threatened to veto Congress’ National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) if it contains a provision to purge US military bases of all Confederate paraphernalia and honours

Remember a few years ago when the 5 Dallas police officers were killed? A couple of the players(? Jason Whitten) wanted the team to wear a patch to honor them and the NFL wouldn`t allow it. Now pro sports teams, and apparently college, will allow patches for organization that want to defund/eliminate police departments and, at times, have outwardly advocating killing them("fry them like bacon."). Not sure how we got to this point. Electing anti-Americans like AOC, Reps, Omar and Talib, etc,. are part if it, Biden will be a puppet for all of their radical causes. And apparently they burned the severed head of a pig last night in Portland. Excuse me though - I guess those were the "peaceful protestors" all of the left-wing Democrats keep referring to them as. What do you think that symbolized. Slogans sound nice and innocent, but look into them more and you will find far more sinister beliefs. And Jerry Nadler said a couple of days ago that Antifa is a "myth." What a joke of a human being. They have a clip of him years ago(he was obese then) talking about all of the voter fraud he had seen. Now, of course, the Dems say there is no such thing! Amazing how it just went away.

Players will get kicked off of teams for putting something on a patch that your side doesn’t like.

I haven’t followed this topic at all. Where did the idea of wearing patches even come from. I don’t care iegat they wear, but this is kinda stupid. Is there a point to this?

While they obviously weren't perfect, they help found our country. The confederates took up arms against our country, a treasonous action. Why should they be honored?

Incorrect. I believe it’s “your side” that are boycotting the NFL and sports because players dare not follow the party line.

I’m for players wearing what they want on their uniform or sitting, kneeling, etc

There should not be a "Party line" in sports.

Playing college sports is a privilege, not a right.

Fans and boosters are what makes it all happen. No fans, no scholarships, no TV money, no 7 figure salaries for coaches and AD's.

I don’t care about sitting or kneeling, but what’s the point of having a uniform if people can just wear what they want? It just seems silly. It doesnt bother me at all. It just seems ridiculous.

Well, the Democrats that aren't socialist/communist are just one step away from being so.
Please return your Social Security checks and Medicare card as both are examples of how socialism has benefitted this country. Of course the republicans fought hard to defeat Social Security but thanks to Roosevelt's efforts it passed and the rest is as they say, history.

Social security is a disaster. Nothing good has come from it and the average person putting into the system would be way better off without it.

Can you honestly say that you’d rather contribute 6.2% of your check to that broken system than keep the money and do something else with it? No, you can’t.

It amazes me when people point to it as a success. It’s a joke. It’s only good for people who are too stupid to handle their own finances. In that regard, you’re probably right. Most people are too stupid to handle their own finances. But you have to be willing to admit that the majority of working adults are stupid if you’re going to say social security has benefited this country.

I would gladly turn mine back in if they won't take out SS on me - although I'm retired now. But as a young person I would rather have taken my own money and invest it the way I wanted and bought my own insurance instead of a government ran program. The less government the better.
