NCAA to allow patches on the uniforms

Professional sports are over for me, college will be over pretty soon. Gamecock players like Big George were heroes to me when i was in my single digits. I’m guessing, that won’t be the case with my kids.

That is up to you Goose. If you let your hate end your relationship with sports and the team you have loved your whole life.. and if you fill your kids with the same hate that drives you away from sports then yes, you are probably killing any chance of them having that type of magical experience and it is really really sad.

There is another choice. Admit it is your engrained personal biases causing this irrational negative response to a bunch of young men who are just trying to bring attention to social injustice. This is not “young punks disrespecting our flag/the troops”. This is the very definition of peaceful protest- a freedom those troops died to protect. It has been a part of athletics for generations... Why is it suddenly in 2020 something you will stop watching sports over? Please think about things and do not infect you kids with this hate... Let them have the same magical experiences you did pulling for you favorite team growing up and if they ask why the players are protesting stuff, be honest. Tell them that while America is the best country in the world to live in and we have literally fought wars to defeat racism and hate in other lands- we still have a long way to go defeat it a home!! Don’t wax philosophical about how it “won’t be the case with my kids“ when that decision is completely up to you. If you let your hate destroy that for you kids it is 100% your fault.

That will open a can of worms.
Let’s see what happens if anyone tries to put a conservative patch on their uniform. Only pro left patches will be allowed I’m sure. This opens the doors for a lot of problems.
Remember the Tebow rule? Couldn’t have messages on your eye black. Bible verses were too offensive.

I just really want sports to stay sports during the games. By all means, share your opinions but please do it outside of field of play.

BLM has anti-Christian views, anti-nuclear family views etc. Sorry, can’t support that and that includes if my alma mater pulls this as well. My .02.

Well, the Democrats that aren't socialist/communist are just one step away from being so.
Round 2 of stimulus money is around the corner. Trump signed checks and sent them to a bunch of people who hadn't lost their jobs. You're ok with that?

You are confusing an organization with the rallying cry of a social movement. BLM the organization is adopting a popular saying from a virtuous movement to boost their own relevance. Black people who stand up and yell that their lives matter are not all supporters of or members of that group.. I know it is confusing, they did that intentionally and it is despicable if you ask me. What it has done is put some people who may not agree with some mission statement they read about a company In a position where they appear to be in opposition to the mere notion that the lives of colored people even matter... I assume that is not how you feel- but I do not know you at all outside of this forum so... Again, I am asking you to just do some introspective thinking on the matter. I bet we are a lot alike at the root even if we are not completely aligned in political or religious beliefs. When you mentioned your kids it kind of tugged at my heart strings a bit and I would ask for their sake that you try to be careful not to download any engrained biases you may have been raised to carry into them as it is something I have struggled with at times as a parent myself.

Football/ watching sports is certainly not a terribly
Important thing in most of our lives but is a recreational Bonding activity that I bet most of us have great memories of doing with our parents and I would hate to think you plan to deprive your kids of that time with you simply because you disagree with- or worse are confused about- the beliefs of a few players. Best to you and your family whatever you decide.

Pretty much and as a result it means you are not paying for your retirement but rather those before you. To say it needs a complete overhaul is a joke but then again I look at what we are doing right now and I guess nothing matters...just print till the presses burn to the ground.
And ithey are ok with it... now. But when a democrat gets in again and does the same things, we'll hear how the country has gone to hell and we'll never recover.

Last I looked, the confederate flag was the original flag of the democrats...

Oh??? Did I say that out loud???

You boys should see me on twitter........ I LIGHT THESE COMMIES UP using their own words.....

My favorites are the commie idiots who will try to say something clever like AmeriKKKa..... and I respond:

1) Democrats founded the KKK
2) Republicans / WHIG party freed the slaves from the democrats. It's a day of celebration known as Juneteenth.
3) It took a majority of Republicans to pass the civil rights act. Dems would have defeated it
4) Martin Luther King was a Republican < Always True Stories......

Man the meltdowns are E.P.I.C!!!!!

Then I run across the commies that are just soooooooooo torn up about the 120,000 - 140,000 (whatever the latest FAKE death toll is) people in the US who have died of COVID.

The President "murdered" them you know? Oh yes. Outright murder. Of course. Trust me; Those commies HARD TRIGGER when you ask them where their outrage is at the 56 million innocent babies being butchered every single year under their "policies." ........

These people are EXACTLY who I am telling you they are > COMMUNISTS

Agree on some of this. I hope people will speak out on how they disagree with burning bibles. If you support BLM organization please speak out on bible burning. I think black lives matter as it pertains to a race of people. The BLM organization, I have no use for. Read Jason Whitlock article on Outkick the coverage on NBA player standing. I will end with let's all pray against the evil gripping our country. God Bless.

What a load of crap. So anyone that doesn't agree with the "peaceful" protests have "ingrained personal biases" which cause an "irrational negative response." You have got to be kidding. I would submit just the opposite. The idea of racial inequality and injustice has been pushed to this generation to the extent where if something doesn't go their way, they are convinced racism is the cause. If a bad white cop kills an unarmed black man, it must mean all cops are racists. If certain minorities(not all) don't get a job, it must be due to racism. No personal responsibility, no self-accountability, just excuses and the #1 excuse is race. Sorry, but despite what the mainstream media attempts to push and what the left hangs their hat on, racism in the US is not nearly the problem it is made out to be. Continuing to push this false narrative only creates a racial divide.

Right- again the “organization” and the “saying” are two different things...

Nobody said every cop is a racist. Over exaggerating the ideas behind what I said does not effectively negate the meaning. You are arguing with yourself.

I disagree, it is now an implied narrative, thus the push to disband or defund all police. The left says that all is needed is unarmed social directors who will remedy the situation. Gangs and criminals are LOL.

A reasonably intelligent person would be better off without it. It only benefits people who can’t handle their own finances.

Black lives matter to me, but I disagree with the organization’s views overall. I’m a Christian and they have anti-Christian beliefs. I attend a multi-racial church and diversity is beautiful. I just know that this is going to bring division and anyone who tries to wear something with a conservative opinion will be judged harshly. It’s the world we live in.

The players are not in the field for the anthem so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Yep. That is the world we live in. It is unfair but it is reality. We are being controlled by the 2%. You can be whatever crazy, mentally ill, skitzo, self hating liberal loony trisexual and the media, including ESPN, will support and celebrate your cause 100%. If you are a conservative or a Bible believing Christian, they will vilify you and paint you as a bigoted, intolerant racist and will do everything they can to destroy your livelihood, your family and your life.

but my point was to the guy who said if you want to hit them hard, turn off the tv. All that is doing is keeping you the fan from watching the game.
I am not even sure that will work anymore. Remember that Cops and Live PD were making the networks a fortune yet they pulled the plug on their own money making shows, all to appease the mob. Insanity in action.

Wait...isn't it someone's right to display a confederate flag? I wouldn't, but gosh, we are being so inclusive these days, its seems to me like that would be a "right" too. I must have misunderstood something.
Unfortunately, it is their right, though I hate it. I hate everything it stands for and I hate the ignorance of the mind that celebrates it.

Bingo! You are 100% correct!

It
Why would it bother you so much? Why would you care?
It would bother me b/c I'm opposed to their political agenda. It would make me uncomfortable b/c it makes me feel unwanted and uninvited in that area. I wouldn't even think of painting a Trump or other conservative message on a street. Totally inappropriate. Put whatever flag, sign, etc. you want on your own house or in your own yard. Put whatever bumper sticker you want on your car. Roads should be a place of public accommodation. That's a basic philosophical standard that peaceful societies have followed forever.

Then why is it conservatives/Republicans are pretty much the only ones that support keeping Confederate flags and monuments in their current places of "honor" while progressives/Democrats are the ones advocating for their relocation to museums?
I am an arch conservative who hates everything the rebel flag stands for and believes that the ideas of the men behind those statues were repugnant. I have changed my opinion on the statues and think it would be probably for the best if they were put into museums. At the same time, I think its going down a slippery slope and the idea of forcing a city to do that makes me very uncomfortable. Of course, I am able to admit that I have a personal reason for the way I feel, since I am a white man, married to a dark skinned black woman with 3 biracial children. Sadly, I have to admit that particularly, a lot of the older republicans (above 70) do have some pretty twisted, prejudiced views. They are never going to say that but they know and we know. However, its the same in the democratic party and possibly worse. I find that I will always stand with the principles of conservatism and find myself agreeing with republican talking points 99% of the time so....

I don't necessarily disagree, but many folks live almost their entire lives living paycheck to paycheck, when you can barely meet your obligations saving for retirement is not a priority (I get it but don't endorse it). Some also just want everything now so that's on them. But most importantly, even people who plan properly can get a financial curve ball thrown to them later in life. Happens every day.
But lets just assume that person A cannot or did not handle their finances properly and there was no SS safety net.. Somebody will have to take care of them at some point, meaning either the State or Federal government. With the SS program, at worst those people presumably paid in something for the services they receive. At best they continue living without additional government services.
Its a very good program designed to meet minimal basic needs. You want to see a real
homeless population problem, do away with SS. It would be a disaster.

An elected republican in Alabama just resigned from his job (he was supposedly a terrible pastor of a tiny church) because he was speaking at a “birthday celebration” for the very racist Nathan Bedford Forrest. Yeah, some people in Alabama celebrate him.

at the “party” numerous confederate flags adorned the speaker podium and backdrop.

and of course Trump, in a nod to the racists in his base, has said:

Donald Trump has claimed that people who display Confederate flags are “not talking about racism” and threatened to veto any legislation that includes measures to rename military bases named for Confederate leaders.

“When people proudly have their Confederate flags, they’re not talking about racism,” the US president told Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday in a preview of an interview to be aired on Sunday.

“They love their flag, it represents the South.”

The president also threatened to veto Congress’ National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) if it contains a provision to purge US military bases of all Confederate paraphernalia and honours

Little history for you. Were you aware that Nathan Bedford Forrest left the KKK that he had founded and spent the end of his life speaking out against them? He believed that they had become way too radical and were a dangerous organization.

that’s why the guy was celebrating his birthday with hundreds of confederate flags at what sure seemed like a whites only meeting in Alabama.

it’s always interesting to see the lengths SOME people will go to excuse their bigotry
