1) Coached in barely D1 conference-American Atlantic
2) Beat four teams with a pulse in 2017-Gamecock out of league games will be tougher than American Atlantic 2017 schedule
3) Record of 2-4 in postseason including losing conference
4) Knocked out of regionals by Bethune Cookman
5) May not be as good as Holbrook....so he's not worthy of even 2.0 status yet.
6) Thanks Ray....this kool-aid sucks.

Let me see here, I'm just reading between the lines. What you are really saying is welcome to Columbia coach?

Who would you have hired and how much do you think it would have taken to get him here? Research hard...because some have connections to the program they head that is hard to put a price on.

Not discounting your points at all....at this point who knows if they will be shown to be relevant or not. Here is the thing though....people on here seem to think that baseball is anyway shape or form anything like looking for a football coach.....it is not. Very seldom does a coach leave another established program for basically a lateral move. It is also a much smaller barrel with regional connections being much more important. There were probably 3 maybe 4 names (that would have been recognizable to the casual fan) that we ever would get a call back from simply because of the very small number of programs within a certain recruiting ground. I think I read he actually turned down other D1 programs before he said yes to us. In baseball coaching searches that does show the pull of our program as compare to others. It also shows that other programs wanted what we now have..so maybe there is a reason they wanted him too. Pulling someone like the Florida coach is certainly not the norm. In fact he was nothing but an assistant himself before he went to UF. That is the type of hires that happen in baseball....nobody ever knows the coach until he comes and shows the fans what he can do.

Blanket negativity with no discussion of context or relating comparable talent?

Sounds about right for the fools who make up the majority of the population on this forum...

This guy may or may not be a big success here but the points you made have NO bearing on his potential for success. You conveniently left out all of the successes of his coaching career- on three staffs that made it to Omaha, took a team that hadn't been to the playoffs for thirteen straight season to the dance two out of three years from a conference that doesn't get many teams into the dance, and recruited exceptionally well for a guy at a mid major school with zero history of success...

If you ignore all of that, yeah it looks like a crappy hire.

All of the college baseball experts seem to be praising this guy big time. Heard Mike Morgan singing his praises yesterday on the radio. That`s good enough for me, plus trusting Ray`s judgement. I`m all for Kingston!

1. NaturalGC7 credentials- Watches TV baseball games
2. Drinks his own kool-aide that sucks.
3. Bye

He was still coaching on an equal level to his peer teams of similar resources and winning games. Ive never understood that logic.

Even if a high school coach won state titles and went undereated each year for 10 consecutive years some of you would question his abilities moving on to the next level.

If you can flat out coach in one league you can flat out coach in the next. Coaching is coaching
