Can someone shed some light on the Newspring connection with Clemson?

How could the church influence recruits?

Seems like I heard at one time that Dabo was close to Perry Noble, who has sinced resigned in disgrace...

Some seem to think they still heavily impact Clemson recruiting. Do they, or did they ever?

Clemson recruits receive cash payments funneled through Newspring. For example KJ Henry is getting 350k to sign with Clemson today. Just the tip of the iceberg I'm afraid. Deandre Hopkins picked up 10k just for getting baptized.

    It's very real.

"Disadvantaged families," like Douchan Watson's, Sammy Watkins', etc., receive "love offerings" from New Spring.

Didn't Hopkins recently complain about his family having to eat Ramen while he was in college? Pretty sad that douchebags will implicate churches in illegal activities with zero evidence so they can feel better about themselves.

I think the "love offerings" is close to nailing it. When a church is known more for it's support and association with a football team than Jesus it speaks volumes. Thus the orange pews.

Get a clue guy. You make other fans here cringe when you and others on here start harping on some wild conspiracy theory about a church funneling money to student athletes. Then you make fun of someone being baptized? There's the real shame.

What bullshit way to convince mommies that their baby gets a wholesome, Christian upbringing at Clemson. It’s just PR stunts.

Love offerings are only the beginning. The escort ring run would make Hugh Freeze blush. Clemson has been on the forefront of Bitcoin. Untraceable payments.

I worked for the church. Numbers are estimates of course but based on what previous recruits have gone for.

    Here we go again...

I would not put it past Clemson to be paying recruits, I think it happens there and at some level most places. But as a member of New Spring in Columbia for several years this really gets under my skins. The people at that my church do so many things for the local community and have had a strong impact on my life along with several friends, you guys need to look somewhere else. It doesn’t happen. Take of the tin hats.

Very interesting and informative. Everyone has known for years that they have been buying recruits just never heard actual numbers. Makes sense though that they’d use a church to funnel funds

As I stated earlier, Clemson got in on Bitcoin early. An untraceable currency, its better than using giftcards.

Newspring's influence really started to take off after the Newspring Clemson campus broke ground, Dabo led the majority of players to attend church there, and several baptisms took place. Big money donors saw this as an opportunity to funnel money via bitcoin to recruits, players, and their families. Contrary to popular belief, the money didn't go directly through Newspring itself, as that would be traceable. Clemson boosters (through Perry's knowledge I might add) give bitcoin to Church "owners" who would convert it to cash and distribute it on a weekly basis to Clemson players, basically a modern form of the $100 handshake. Seriously on what other college campus do all the players attend the same church?

As far as how they paid cash to recruits' families, that gets a little more murky, the numbers I heard bandied about varied wildly and the actual process in getting cash to recruits I was never privy to.

Man, your level of in-depth lying is insane.
So, if you have all this proof, since you worked there and all, why have you not turned them I yet?

Oh yea, because you full of crap.

I don't have any proof, just what people have told me. So essentially its hearsay, but I do believe people within the church that were pretty bitter about the hypocrisy of the entire situation.

So these people within the church, know of these sinful and illegal acts, are bitter about it, but dont want to turn them in? Seems legit.

I know I'm a little jaded because I left the church, but these people's livelihoods depend on the church, how many churches have full time paid band leaders? What I'm saying is that they are pissed, but don't want to bite the hand that feeds. I imagine a scandal like this would end Newspring as we know it.

Is that how proof works? That's like me saying you are a white collar embezzler and have stolen millions from your company. Prove that you're not. Oh, you can't prove it? Well, that makes it true then, right?

You guys are hilarious.. how about we just face facts . Dabo is a hell of a recruiter , we got lazy , and they have kicked our butts on the field for the last four years, They have played in the Championship three years in a row . Why is it a surprise that they are dominating us on the recruiting trail ?? Quit looking for Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster . Accept the facts and fix it .

This ain’t a courtroom, it’s a message board. No proof necessary, was my point. You seem confused about where you are so I’ll explain it to you. Go back to the tater message or shut up and let the man tell his story

The providing for needy families (prized recruits) is real. I understand, with you being in the cult & all, that you don't want to accept it.

Well turn me into the NCAA then. Because I’m a gamecock giving money to a “cult church”, who is paying Clemson’s prized recruits. And guess what, I’m not going to stop. How’s that for accepting it.
