NFL to Allow Throwback Helmets in 2022

Good news. I know it’s a uniform thread but these throwbacks are usually fun. Which helmets do you want to see back now that the one shell rule is gone?

Mine are all but guaranteed to show up. The creamsicle Bucs is probably the most desired throwback out there. Patriots throwbacks are fun too. Eagles need to ditch their current look and just go back to Kelly Green permanently.

Oh, and possibly the most overdue uniform overhaul in the NFL, the Broncos need to go back to this look.

Nope. They had hoped it would be this year. Bruce Arians kept mentioning it as he wants to bring back the Creamsicle and fans want it too. NFL must want to cover their a$$ as far as “safety” goes. Requiring teams to notify the league before July 31st. So there will be some sort of process. Below is a link.

And I’m sure this means we’ll see the old traditional white Dallas helmet on Thanksgiving Day again. Not a huge fan of this look, but do like tradition.

I really think Washington should become the Redtails or something along those lines and go back to these sweet uniforms. Keep the old school look for the fans. Great looking uniform.

The red falcons look will definitely return tough I would keep the gold striping off the helmet. Still can’t believe what the Falcons did to their unis. I prefer the old red ones or the black ones. Liked the traditional logo much better than the one they have now.

Quite possibly the best NFL Uniform that’s ceased to exist. I do agree it would be better to see Houston in it than Tennessee. The Titans worse some Oilers throwbacks a few years back that were good too, but not as good as the Warren Moon era uniforms.

Also, I think it would be cool to see teams use this to adapt and use current logos with old color schemes. For example, the Bucs wear Creamsicle, but with current logo. Same with Patriots. A couple of examples below:

By the way, there are some bad throwbacks too. Many of them aren’t impacted by the one shell rule. These are a few throwbacks I hate and wish would go away for good.

In general if you just go back to the 1980s jerseys in just about any sport, you’re good. Clearly this was the peak. Love that Denver helmet. Of course they won titles in the ugly ones of the 90s…..titles make them all look better.

Agree about that era. As far as the Broncos, I love that blue color used on the helmet back in the 80’s. It’s unique. But at worst Denver should compromise and go back to old logo with same color scheme. Their uniform is stuck in the 1990’s. The uniform below is a huge upgrade to what they typically wear, though I could do without the orange pants.

And by the way, this is all but certain to happen. Many Bengals fans were disappointed when their recent uniform changes didn’t have a white helmet. I personally think their orange one is classic, but I will admit this looks sharp. Much better than what Memphis does with theirs.

As a Falcons fan I love the old retro red helmets. Think they need to stick with with this helmet and the red and white jerseys rotating the pants out with silver and black.
