If we sign a one and done. And he signs with Nike out of high school. Will he be allowed to wear Nike on our basketball team? If not, UA has us at a disadvantage in trying to recruit the elite basketball players in the Country.

Just last night, I told my brother-in-law that we have got to walk away from UA now more than ever.

I personally like Adidas but, yes, if we change it better be Nike. I think Adidas is the worst as far as college uniforms go.

I’m no lawyer to comment on the legal part of it. But I hope that the student athlete wears the same gear as the rest of the team in games and University functions. Otherwise we will look like an un-uniformed hot mess on the field. Players running around with different cleats and all.
Then we may as well open up the flood gates and go full NASCAR style with each player wearing different logo advertisements all over their uniforms. Yuck. Whatever they wear off the field on their own time can be between the student and the company they advertise for.

I may be in the minority. But I like UA gear much more then Nike and hope we don’t change for the foreseeable future.

The scholarship states about wearing the team gear, so they are not allowed to get a separate shoe deal.

Under Armour offered South Caroling more money/equipment than Nike. It is hard now to get a big "value" deal from the shoe/sports equipment companies.

I have to admit I do see a large conflict of interest if a player signs with nike but school x wears under armour. If I were the sponsorship company I would not be happy at all. Also agree we don’t need a hodge Poge of different jerseys on game day. I’m not sure how this one will work out.

On a second note I would love to drop UA for Nike. I personally like their line better than UA.

First off, I think Under Armour is crap and except for a couple of schools for the most part they sponsor second rate schools. Back to the question being asked, I would say he has to wear the schools uniform and shoes. I’m not a lawyer, but from what I know that NIL rules they seem to separate the player from the school he plays at. For instance he cannot wear anything identifying the school in his advertising. I would think the opposite would also apply so that the player can’t identify the sponsor while playing for the school.

I see them wearing UA or whatever signed deal the school has but then wearing patches all over the uniform and helmets for their NIL deals.

I also want to add that NIKE is on my boycott list for something. I can’t remember exactly what for. Promoting false political narratives and such.
Not to say I wouldn’t completelyyyyy forget about those things if switching to Nike would magically make us like a top 10 team consistently. Like some here are suggesting. Lol.

Agreed. I was basically just being a donkey to the OP (my apologies lol).

You must have the pasion por el futbol... the Paolo approves!

Not at all. I can’t watch 5 minutes without turning it off from all of the flopping. I just prefer to wear adidas gear over UA or Nike, especially shoes.

Could this drive a kid away from us if he signs with Adidas or Nike in high school? Could see an manufacturing agent giving a kid money provided he goes to a certain school who also wears their brand. Going to be a mess.

Um no...the fact that we've basically sucked at basketball for the majority of our history has crushed us from a basketball standpoint.
Agreed. To the extent Frank Martin has struggled to recruit, it seems preposterous to suggest our brand of uniforms played a significant role.
