Very nice guy. I'm certainly happy for Coach Lee ... who without a doubt earned this shot at coaching an upper-tier D1 school program (and can now earn the money his position pays at a major school like Clemson vs. a school the size of CoC - probably 2-3X's more moola/annually at least). Coach Lee was a great coach for us for quite a while and did a truly great job while at the College of Charleston. They gave some pretty good ball clubs trouble while Lee was there, sometimes including us. Teams have never been a 'pushover under Lee; the guy certainly knows how to recruit and lead by example.
What he WILL miss is the VAST difference between a city like Charleston and a place like Clemson. I expect he'll miss laughing along with Bill Murray, as well.
With the obvious "playing the Gamecocks" exception I wish Coach Lee the very best luck. As good a coach (and obviously - recruiter) as Coach Lee is he might be at Clemson as long as Coach Wilhelm was, given his relatively young age. I hope he beats the Tigers out of a million bucks annually plus two cars, substantial deferred compensation, a private 401K program that contributes a tax-free $2 bucks for every dollar he deposits, super health insurance and free use of Clemson's best gym to work off just a tad-bit of that excess weight Monte's carrying around. His Thursday Masters tickets are probably already a given, gotta' schedule Tues or Wed then Fri/Sat/Sun that week in April. Way to go, Coach. Good luck.
