Nosovitch - Moving back to QB?

Why not, at least temporarily? We have several guys who we recruited as QB's. Let them compete in the
spring. Hopefully the number will be pared down to 3 by the end of spring practice and one of them will emerge as best early in fall practice. Spurrier mentioned Nunez in his presser. I would be surprised if Nunez could win the job as a FR, but I would not be surprised if he gets on the field in the fall. He appears to be a zone read kind of guy and as HBC said running QB's are valuable in college football today.

He's a player I believe...to have won the Gatorade player of the year in his home state his senior year, the boy would have to have skills. I truly would love to see a true read option QB run our offense like Shaw was....why run this offense if you don't. Our strength should be our RBs with Wilds(Sr) Carson(Sr) Williams(So) and with a QB with running skills and experience with this type of an read option is our best chance to succeed I believe.

Nunez will redshirt. I think Mitch will be the man with Cooper coming in with the wildcat.

From his recruiting it seems like I recall he had some big numbers is high school....

Nunez was told to be ready to play, not to expect to play. There's a difference.

We will have 15-20 receivers and a dozen rbs. In spring practice we will need as many arms as we can find to throw balls to these guys.

I think he redshirts. If Mitch gets hurt the redshirt could come off though.

Football not being rocket science , playing QB not like playing OL, playing Frosh QB'S now almost trendy, I see Numez on the field this year if he can learn enough and has enough maturity. Nos, I agree might ought to be tried at QB again and may very well be.

Nosovitch is hard to figure out, he has all the accolades but cant get any playing time. Is it ability on something else? I thought he would be a good QB.

I could see Nunez being the starter by the end of the season. The kid jumps off the tape in my opinion. Who knows though the ole ball coach will figure all of this out for us.

Ask if something you would like to happen has any truth to it... discuss. What a way to start a rumor.

Justin Worley at UT was Gatorade POY when in high school at Northwestern. He looked was surpassed at QB and looked terrible in most of his on field time.

If Nunez does win the job as a true frosh, then it would just bear more witness to how bad off we are at the QB position. If that turns out to be the case next September, it would be just unthinkable that SOS could let us get into this predicament. Hopefully though CM is coming around and will be a serviceable QB.

Watson won the starting job as a freshman and did OK albeit against ACC competition and Barrett did OK for OSU. Nunez may be our best option and he might turn out to be pretty good. We'll see.

I cannot see a true freshman getting meaningful PT absent Spurrier working-in specific packages for a kid (e.g. Stephon/Pharoh in the wildcat, Tebow's TF year at UF, etc). The offense is too complicated to grasp that quickly.

Yup. Right up there with "My sources inside the organization say that Muschamp is a done deal." Saw that more than once on this board.

There is a difference but that's not what I recall reading. I also read that they were trying to get him in early to give him a better chance of being ready.

Connor Shaw in 2010

Yeah. Go back to that season. He did really well coming off the bench at Auburn. But how good was he the rest of the season? Although we didn't see him much.

The difference between Nunez and Watson, Watson was on campus in the spring. We will not see Nunez until summer practice starts.

Nos is the only player that I remember Spurrier trying to talk out of leaving. There have probably been others, but none come to mind. I think that means he has a plan for him and if Nos. busted his butt in the off season getting better the I think he will get a hard look. Maybe his passing wasn't as accurate as Spur wanted or his decisions were not to his liking, either way, if he really worked on whatever it was then he may have a chance. Spurrier really likes players who commit to being as good as they can. Same could be said of all the QBs as far as commitment is concerned.

Of course he would. That's why he got buried on the depth chart last season, because he runs the read option to perfection.

He was buried on the depth chart because he was having problems with his accuracy, throwing the ball.

Well, if you can't throw the ball accurately, you aren't going to run the read option very well for very long, because defenses will crowd the line and not respect the pass.

Hey, I wish the best for Nosovitch. But it's remarkable how many fans assume that the key to the offense lies with a guy who hasn't been able to get it done.
