Hope everyone likes pro football cause college is getting there fast…..and this stuff started officially only in July. (Of course the taters started this unofficially 41 years ago)
Ok so their basketball team shares an arena and a color scheme. Maybe they want to work with the Gamecocks 😁
They have a symbol with North and South Carolina….
Clemson is too close to the border, so maybe we ,Columbia, would be more appealing. The thing is they have to go to games….
Because nothing sells professional hockey quite like a college football quarterback.
We'll see stupid deals like this for the time being...will just take a little time for logic to float back to the surface.
I think this NIL is going to be a much tougher sell long term than many realize. Sure, you are going to have some businesses that are already "friends of the program" that will be there. But they were going to be there anyway. But I just don't see where there is much ROI on the backside for this to make a lot of business sense. I guess a company like Bojangles can get players from every school in the region and use it as a tax write off. But my buying habits, and I would say 99% of the public, isn't going to have their buying decisions on a biscuit, car, condo, or whatever, influenced in the least by a college athlete. I can pull for USC. Hope they win every game. But where their players enjoy a plate of chicken doesn't influence me on bit.
I agree. I think things will die down for the majority of players. This is really only going to impact the biggest stars who fans want to purchase for their team.
True. Figure at some point it will come down to pre-arranged packages put together for highly rated recruits. But then again, it is like Jimbo Fischer said at the SEC media days when he said that he didn't think the NIL would change things much as the NIL has been around for a long time, just nobody talked about it.
Again, I can’t yet wrap my brain around how it will or won’t change for the 90% of the team that aren’t stars. Time will tell.

Yep I’m afraid with NIL the rich are going to get richer. Think about it. If you are a national brand you are going to choose one of the elite players from the teams that get the most recognition. Right now that’s bama, kitty U and the bucknuts.
