Nothing else to say, BAD basketball***

I agree. Team cannot shoot. Effort is there but everything else missing. Martin has 1-2 years to turn it around.

play calling is there, shots are there, just have to execute....if we can shoot and defense keeps holding them to around 55 60 points, we should be in good shape.

We don't have the players to compete. Listening to the LSU broadcast on xm radio the LSU commentates said its obvious South Carolina does not have the players.

Thank Darrin Horn, he made it difficult for us to get good players to want to come here and it was already pretty tough to do that.

So much like the Auburn game. With 3 minutes left it appears they are in control. Once again they cannot score down the stretch. Then get a missed free throw and a chance to tie and you have a block out effort that a 5th grader would be ashamed of. For whatever reason this team just can't close a game out since conference play started. Frustrating. I still say that Frank just doesn't have the horses. It is a long road back from the ditch Horn left the program in.

I don't think people understand the scope of FM's task. Clowns will say "so and so is doing it at UT and AU." Well no sh**! You can't name a power five team that's been the level of dumpster fire USC has. To think anyone would make this team immediately successful is silly. Burt Wonderstone wouldn't even be able to accomplish what Frank has in 2.5 years. I'm no pumper but I'm also not delusional.

In their defense, the block out was pretty good. Looked to me like we had four bodies on him. The freakish bounce off the back of the rim just happened to fall in an arc where only their guy could get it. I chalk that up to just plain bad luck.

+1 for the Burt Wonderstone reference.

And the fire continues.

I am ok with the program continuing to be awful. It is what it is and it's not going to change, even if we get lucky and have a winning season one day.

Re: How a program can go for 15 years without stumbling over

at least a couple of basketball players that can shoot is amazing.....

Basketball has one goal......putting the freaking ball in the hoop and we haven't had one since McKee and Davis......the last real shooter we had on the team was Brent Price but he transferred out to Oklahoma in the 80s.

Price would stand aghast at these basketball players with their bricks from the foul line which do not even draw iron....

Devan Downey wasn't a bad shooter, Larry Davis could get hot and shoot, how about the kid that played that was partially deaf, forget his name, Chuck something from West Virginia?? Seems like MM called him the West Va rifleman or something to that affect.

You're thinking of Jamel Bradley, who was nicknamed the "West Virginia Long Rifle" by Charlie McAlexander. I believe Bradley was the SEC's All-Time leader in 3-pointers when he graduated.

USC has had some good shooters here or there. Larry Davis, Jamel Bradley, Tre Kelley, Devan Downey, Zam Fredrick, Brandis Raley-Ross, and Brenton Williams could all hit from long range and were all near the top of the conference in 3-point shooting. We could really use a shooter like that on this team. Crazily enough, Evka Baniulis led the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage in 2008-2009 with 48%!!!

I think it's an absolute must that we take another player in the upcoming recruiting class that's a shooter, there have to be some shooters out there that will give USC a look. In my opinion, finding some shooters, while not easy, is not as difficult as our coaches are making it look to be.

I can. Northwestern. NEVER been to the tourny. NEVER. Nebraska (tho this yr they look pretty good) has been equally as bad. VT had a decent run under Greenberg but their bubble always seemed to burst in early March. Oregon St is also a dumpster fire.

Yes, its been bad, but there are others out there just as bad.

Wake Forest has been a pretty bad dumpster fire under bzdelik the last few years. Unfortunately for them danny manning is the position to have to clean hos mess up like martin has had to clean up horn's. I see usc going to the dance again before i see wake going again.

Ir is the Frank McGuire curse. Usc is doomed to 50 years of bad basketball. Maybe next year.

Can't figure out why people keep acting like we are an overall bad bball team. We play good defense and are a good rebounding team. Our players play hard. We struggle on offense and it has cost us games. If we get a couple of players in that can score and create our team will look completely different. We are not as far away from being a tournament team as people are acting.

Just win. Quoting Chairman Mao, the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Those that can do. Those who can't make excuses. Or as the 1980's Oakland raiders said: "if we can't beat you. We'll beat you." Adding another mantra: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." PS: We don't need a tough coach. We need tough basketball players. Where are you know when we need you John Ribock? .

John Ribock...3 years...85 games...456 points...520 rebounds...5.4 ppg 6.2 rpg Claim to fame...punched Lefty Drisell in the mouth while Jimmy Powell held him. He may still be down in Augusta. I saw him last year...Who needs punching?

Reporters asked Frank McGuire what happened..."after watching the film we have determined that Lefty punched himself."

Ribock was the muscle and wasn't asked to score because we had scorers. He had a great 6-8ft shot that he could hit. I wish we had him on the team now. He could teach Chat and Kacinas how to intimidate an opposing player.

I would contend that we need more Owenses and Roches. Carrera can Ribock em to death. We also could use a few BJ McKies, Jimmy Fosters, Alex Englishes etc.

Speaking of Jimmy Foster. Has there been a Jimmy Foster sighting any time over the last few decades? I know he had to get out of dodge back in the day, but didn't know if he had ever come back to the area.

You know I would love to see that Roche, Owens, Ribock team play someone today with all the upgrades of today, of course. Roche was BB poetry in motion. I loved the way he could weave around a defender with a smirk on his face.
I wish Chat could make us stop reminising about Owens.
Would be nice if Mike was a 7 fter instead of 6' 5". Wow!! I can only dream of the possibilities.
